Hellen I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
JinRoz For all the hype it got I was expecting a lot more!
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Anoushka Slater While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
sporeviews Granted, if you're going to make a movie, you might as well have an "out there" concept like trans-dimensional hopping. But for whatever reasons for this idea, the only thing more unbearable than high school is seeing high school being portrayed for ages NOT OLD ENOUGH TO BE IN HIGH SCHOOL YET. Popularity contest plot frame, one-dimensional popular girl antagonist, blue-haired Mc Useless love interest, oh goody. But for the limited credit that it has, the movie does have the character emphasis from the show. And the interactions between the Mane 6 are the best part of the film. In addition, the human designs of the original characters are really good! The animation and what they do with it frankly, is why the movie deserves to exist. I mean, seeing Twilight adjusting to her new human body is just, funny! And the songs are, there.....? But then the villain is an idiot. Yes, set up a bunch of easily fortified conveniences, only to surrender. And then just jump on her and take the McGuffin with your bare hands, WHAT.So neither the train wreck the fans dreaded, but not the surprisingly fresh innovation that they hoped for.
asaloverboy7 Finally, the best flash cartoon has been made into a TV movie. The ponies come back in the Crystal Empire, for a while after Season 3. It seems to be connected before Season 4. A former student runs into a fictive human suburb with Twilight's big crown thingy. Twilight runs after the villain and becomes a human, and Spike a dog. The Secret of My Excess episode with Spike mistaken for a dog became canon. Twilight must learn to be human, and she meets with her other human friends from Equestria too. Of violence Sunset Shimmer the villain faces Twilight and her friends the end. Trixie's sidekicks Snips and Snails are meaner but still funny too. Twilgiht nearly kicks a vending machine. To a surprise Twilight has a crush in both worlds. The ponies look very nice looking as humans, in my opinion. Anybody who loved the 2010 cartoon should get treated to this film.
Christian Ojaniemi ***********MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS************* Friendship is Magic takes the step on to the big screen in a fashion very typical to the times and the company that runs it, but still manages to feel outdated on many planes. The franchise dares play a wild card if only for the matter of about an hour, but still plays it incredibly safe with almost no surprises along the way.The lovable ponies from the magical and mythical land of Equestria (or one of them, technically speaking) travels through a portal in pursuit of something of great importance into the human world and takes on the challenges of high school. The movie serves one purpose, and it is sadly not for the greater good of the show it represents, though it is clear that the team working on the movie worked hard with the material given to them.Once the great change of environment occurs, about ten minutes into the movie, the animation takes a considerable and notable dent compared to the fluency one is used to see from the show, but it is something one gets used to eventually. The music, which soon after makes its introduction, plays on the most generic strings imaginable for the setting. At least the music sets a tone for the movie that gives it a certain atmosphere all the way through. But Daniel Ingram, the songwriter for Friendship is Magic, can do much better than this. Most of the reintroduced characters are well portrayed, but the new ones are paper thin, barely qualifies for three dimensions, and are almost reduced to nothing but plot points or concept fodder. The overarching plot is the trillionth of its kind and is full of bad contrivances that somehow leads up to a rather bombastic, and for the movie uncharacteristic, finale. It is still something that fans of the show would have seen coming miles away, however. Plotpoints set up from the beginning of the movie are almost never commented on, and are resolved with little relevancy to the events that occur. The biggest question one might have when finishing the movie is what the point of it all actually was. The only character who learned anything from the experience was Twilight Sparkle, since all the other characters were copies of the actual characters who weren't there to experience the events with her, and the lesson she learned was not a big one, or something she did not know before. It is hard to see a point to a movie as bland as this, unless you are a die hard fan of the franchise. The movie is not completely devoid of entertainment value, it is not a movie that will make you wish you had decided to do something much better with your time that day, but ultimately, it leaves little to nothing of value for any viewer. In the end, it feels like making a good movie was the least of all priorities when this movie was conceptualized.
Angels_Review As much as I like friendship is magic, I am not really fond of this one. Sadly, this just feels like a cop out to sell more products then something that actually works with the series. It brings me a bit of disappointment that they would do something so low as to give in to the marketing ploy. It feels like they tried to make 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen' again. It's just how Barbie made 'The Barbie Diaries'. Just a school life story. It's a bit sad since it doesn't have the same feeling that went along with the TV show. Sure it has a bit of the 'be yourself' but then the characters seem a little like they are not being themselves next to what they were in the pony world.Anther thing that bothers me is that they never explain where Twilight lives after going through the mirror. I understand if she was there for a day but she is there for a while. There are little details like that that seem to mess with my head although maybe not for children. They also add a character that wasn't in the TV show just for romance aspect. The animation feels very wonky, with stiff characters, proportionate bodies, and even the strange color choices for the characters. For example, Twilight has purple skin. I have nothing against people with purple skin mind you… but um, you get what I'm saying? It's a very unnatural look and just makes it look like it was forced. There were so many other things they could do to make it look like Twilight, her hair, her personality, the cutie mark… anything but that! And while I'm at it, why do all the girls have to wear dresses? Even the tomboys wear dresses like Rainbow Dash. It just feels like they messed up there. Characters who are rather sporty do not normally wear skirts every day. I know this for a fact that. It just feels old fashioned then. It works when they have parties and stuff, just not for school. Every character wears short skirts is what I got from it.The voices and music were good and pretty much just like the TV show. That's the one thing I thought was good about it. They made it the same on that scope. The music was catching and new beat, the voices were not fully annoying and matched the characters that they needed to sound like. Not much else I can really say there. The script it what seems a little forced in my mind. It just feels a little unnatural at points.
