With Prom only hours away, the usual suspects of Cosa High (Cheerleaders, geeks, bad boys and the happy-go-lucky student council alike) are preoccupied with the annual rituals of teendom. On the night of the big dance when the dead unexpectedly rise to eat the living, polar opposite groups will be forced to unite in their final chance to save the town from the zombies.

AutCuddly Great movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,
Scott LeBrun It's time for the Senior Prom at Cosa High School, but unexpected guests are about to crash the party: the living dead kind, that is. As fate would have it, the only ones who are able to come to the rescue are the people who *aren't* able to go to the prom. These fall into familiar "types": the class clown, the geeks, the tough guy, the rockers, etc. With their gung-go coach leading the way, they go into battle against the zombies. This viewer wouldn't consider himself overtly impressed by this one. It's easy enough to take, but at best it generated some modest chuckles, no real belly laughs. It makes no attempt to hide its low budget, what with the hilarious way it situates a nuclear power plant right by a cemetery. What also helps is its level of energy and its consistent forward momentum. It sure doesn't have a lot of story, but that's obviously not the point; it's just out to show its intended audience a good time. There's enough splatter to go around, and some decent sight gags. The characters may largely be clichéd, but they're not hard to root for, with wise guy Jimmy (Jared Kusnitz, "Otis") leading the way. Greyson Chadwick ("Daddy's Little Girls") is appealing as his leading lady Lindsey. Justin Welborn ("The Signal") is amusing as the punk Kyle, Carissa Capobianco ("The Watch") leaves a favourable impression as the cheerleader Gwen, Lucas Till ("X-Men: First Class") and Blair Redford ('The Lying Game') have fun with their roles as rockers, and Mark Oliver ("Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland") is a hoot as the coach. There's nothing memorable here, unless one wants to count the fact that these zombies can be subdued by rock music. Unfortunately, there's not much of an ending; the unsatisfying resolution seems to be setting up a sequel.Five out of 10.
Bezenby How many modern zombie films are there these days? Several thousand? This one stands out from the pack by having characters you care about, humour that actually is funny, and doesn't skimp on the gore. The American school system is strange to me - there's the popularity contests, the nerds, the weirdos, and the prom. Growing up in Scotland, instead of a prom the teachers took us out back and beat us with sticks, then buried us up to our necks in manure for a week. Any Scottish person who denies this is lying. The Prom is looming and slacker Jimmy has lost favour with his missus, who is falling for the charms of class president. Meanwhile, the geeks are having major trouble getting a date, and the local band don't even want to go as they're not allowed to play. At first this film seems like it's going to sink into teen drama but instead introducing a lot of characters for you once the zombies rise up (courtesy of a local power plant).Check out the zombies who burst from the ground and hit the ground running! Several of our characters are in a cemetery as this happens and it's a fight for life and various people band together to survive, and to rescue all our teens who are at the prom. Can they make it in time? Can Jimmy win his girlfriend back? And what about the band who can halt the dead with their off-key caterwauling? You've got to root for these people, even the psychotic jock who proves to be an asset to our group of survivors. Although seemingly tame at first, the gore is plentiful as heads and arms are severed, spinal columns removed, and guts are munched on. There's a lot to recommend here from a film that manages to entertain while staying within the parameters of a genre that is almost saturated with movies theses days. All hail the good zombie film!
Uriah43 In my opinion, a zombie-comedy is one of the most difficult types of movies to get right. On the one hand it has to have gore, or at the very least it needs to have good action and special effects. That can be difficult for many of these films because they are typically produced with a limited budget. On the other hand, these films also have to be funny. And that is equally difficult with this particular subject matter because zombies are not generally funny—they are ugly and revolting. And so getting the right balance is problematic. Fortunately, this specific film manages to hit that balance. But just barely. It definitely has plenty of gore and it is good for a few laughs here and there. Not many, but a few just the same. Having said that, I thought some of the action scenes were rather absurd and it lowered my overall assessment of the film. I especially didn't care for the scenes involving the rock band because it seemed so odd and out of place. Likewise, I liked the characters of "Kyle Grubbin" (Justin Welborn) and "Gwen" (Carissa Capobianco), and thought their roles should have been strengthened somewhat. Still, all things considered it was a satisfactory film for the most part and I would say it was worth the time spent watching it.
Nick Damian It's a zombie movie - what can you expect? Like countless others before and after it...it has the same plot.Don't look for anything different than what you have seen in previous movies about zombies - there just isn't.The nice touch however is the band that just wants to play and finally they have an audience. The song version of "Shadows of the Night" fit nice with the entire operation of the movie, but aside from that, it's another zombie movie - with the same sort of story you would expect.High art, and intriguing storyline this is not...but enough of a solid film to entertain on a temporary basis.
