BootDigest Such a frustrating disappointment
filippaberry84 I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Bumpy Chip It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
Davis P Must Love Dogs (2005) is one of the funniest romantic comedies I have ever seen. Every member of the cast fits their role so well. Diane Lane played the lead role very well, she brought kind of an innocent but also very fun vibe to her character. John Cusack was good playing Lane's romantic interest, and they had fairly good on screen romantic chemistry. Like I said, Cusack is good, but honestly this is Lane's film, she shines the most and most of the movie centers around her story and her characters deep inner struggles, and I liked it that way. Also in the cast, is one of my favorites, you may know her from Big (1988), Elizabeth Perkins. She plays Lane's sister here and she is just hilarious in this film, I laughed at her character every time she came on the screen, and that was so refreshing, because a lot of romantic comedies only focus on being sweet and forget that it's a romantic COMEDY, some parts are actually supposed to be humorous. This movie really understands that and it delivers. This movie has many very funny scenes with good characters, it's well written, and it also has that sweet/cute factor. Overall, it's a pretty lite movie, and it's also very enjoyable. I really recommend Must Love Dogs if you're looking for a worthwhile romantic comedy. 8/10.
SnoopyStyle Sarah Nolan (Diane Lane) is recently divorced and is throwing in the towel. Her family just can't help getting involved in her personal life, or lack there of. After her sister puts her profile on PerfectMatch.com, this preschool teacher goes on a number of outrageous and hilarious dates. Bob (Dermot Mulroney) is the father of one of her students. Jake (John Cusack) is looking for true love. This is very much a by-the-numbers rom-com. There is nothing terrible about this movie. I like all the actors, and they are all lovely. Diane Lane is a dressed-down cutie. Both guys are likable. I do wish she picked one guy quicker.
ctomvelu1 Mildly amusing date movie has Lane and Cusack meeting cute (in a dog park) and then taking the rest of the movie to actually get together. Lane plays a middle-aged divorcée being urged by her female and obligatory gay friends to get back into the dating scene. The dates she goes on are the funniest parts of the movie, especially one involving a sleazy guy who says to her, "I thought you'd be younger." He admits he wouldn't mind finding an 18 year old to date. The problem with the movie is that it isn't particularly well written, and depends way too much on Lane and Cusack's personalities to pull it off. The ending is a knockoff of about 100 other date movies, and is frankly disappointing. Christopher Plummer plays Lane's dad and Dermot Mulroney is a married womanizer on Lane's trail. Needless to say, Lane has done far better work. So has Cusack, who seems to spend most of the movie working on a wooden boat and watching "Dr. Zhivago."
neenahhh The movie title promises a lot. The actors themselves promise a lot. But this movie just doesn't deliver. I bought this DVD years ago, thinking that this would be a good romance movie with the added appeal of dogs. I mean, how can you go wrong with a romance movie with dogs, right! Problem is, dogs weren't even used in this movie. Only one scene had the use of dogs. After that, nothing. What a letdown.I wouldn't have minded the lack of dogs (even if the title implied they would be important to the story), if this movie was actually good. But it wasn't! I found it boring and the characters had no chemistry. It's sad because the cast were full of familiar faces who had films before, that I liked.Don't bother watching this if you want a good romance movie. More so, if you're a dog lover and thought you could relate with this movie. What a disappointment. :(Viewed on: April 13, 2011
