Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
Murtaza Ahmad An Extraordinary Step Towards The Revival of Pak. Cinema:Moor (Mother) directed by Jamshed Mahmood Raza aka Jami is an incredible film about ones struggle against the internal demons and the corruption lying within ourselves as well as dealing with worldly troubles. An original script inspired by true events, set against the backdrop of decay of Pakistan Railways and how the corrupt used it to their advantage to loot the locals and make unethical profits for themselves. The lead actors Shaaz Khan and Hameed Sheikh deliver performances worthy of praise on a global front.Jami also proves his metal, using the lens in the most cunning way to capture, not only some breathtakingly scenic views but also the drama in a way that only the most gifted could. The story is also to be lauded, traveling back and forth between the present and the past in a manner that does not overwhelm the viewer yet also builds up suspense and at the right moments unraveling in a beautiful manner to elaborate on important plot points.By my humble opinion it most definitely carries the potential of a film worthy of an Academy Award. I would recommend it to not just all fellow Pakistanis but also to the foreigners reading this review. My Ratings: (a strong) 8.5!!
Uzma Farhan Excellent direction, sound, songs and cinematography makes Moor a delightful 150 minutes of true Cinema magic. Perfect casting with Samiya Mumtaz as Moor at the top. Her brief but powerful performance made impact. Moor for mother and motherland both analogies made complete sense. The mystery the intrigue of memories was presented beautifully. Humor by Bango was cute. His love for the railway station is more romantic than SRK and Kajol in DDLJ. Music by strings was perfect. Original and powerful. The way it has been placed in the film is perfect. Hats off to the entire team. Proud to have a Pakistani film that is truly a representation of what our country has to offer to the World. Worthy of Oscar.
Shahrukh Illusionista I wanted to like this movie. I really wanted to, but couldn't despite all sincerity. First, the good things: Awesome cinematography, at par with any internationally acclaimed movie. Breath-taking landscapes of Baluchistan captured in all its grandiosity. Brilliant score by Strings. Urban yet soul-touching music. But the movie failed to properly convey the issue of corruption in Railways (or Pakistan in general). I couldn't develop emotional connect with any of the characters whatsoever. Non-linear haphazard storyline, forgetful dialogues, terrible pace, story-telling at its worst. What's with the spitting scenes, twice? And useless scenes like Baggoo's race with the Range Rover of Lalu. No character development at all. This movie should have been named "Wahid" instead of Moor as Hameed Sheikh is almost in 90% of the frames. Samiya Mumtaz given very little On-Screen time. Amateur acting by Shaz Khan, but mature acting by Sonia Hussain. She looked elegant and beautiful on screen. Ayaz Samoo's wasted debut. At the end of this 150 minutes long snooze-fest, I just wanted refund !!
Muhammad Naseem Jami is known for bringing out of the box and creative works all the time, from the music videos to TVCs, it depict always new fresh feelings, no copycat etc. framing and scene composition never compromised by Jami. Everyone knows Jami is a man who always leads from the front; even the mountain peaks of Kanjrab (Karakoram Mountains) or toughest mountain hills of Gorakh never stops his feet.Moor is a long awaited film of Jami, so expectation was so high, audience were waiting for more than three years. So this film should be on that particular level. Moor film shot on the remote locations of Balochistan, which explored by any Director first time, working on extreme climate and tough weather conditions, where survival is not easy he made it. Moor is served as a great cinematography, best script, best acting and best directions with best crew and team building, it is truly made in Pakistan. Films across the world made in various genres but unfortunately in Pakistan India made and successful genres are Romance, Action and Comedies, so they can take out money easily, so they never try different genre. Moor is neither an entertainment nor item number film with some big name, it has simple but colorful cast and numerous plot twists. Jami used actors that had either appeared in previous Blockbuster film, and all of them tried their level best to for their respective roles. Hameed Sheikh and Abdul Qadir has done magnificent and unforgettable role of Wahid, while Shaz Khan, Ayaz Samoo and Sonya did their marvellous entry on the debut. Strings soundtrack is truly amazing and beyond the imagination of our audience. Art direction Tahir Mehmood and Nasma did wonderful job. Cinematography by Farhan Hafeez with Faibo Borhanz stunning and outstanding. Nadeem H. Mandviwalla you produced a master piece. Well done! Team Moor. Keep rolling....
