Platicsco Good story, Not enough for a whole film
Odelecol Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
Hattie I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
Jakoba True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
kanedipti All said and done about Mom being the 6th rape revenge story of the year, theres nothing great in the story, far from being perfect and what not! These are the things the film never had boasted about. They had always been saying that its a simple story. The opening scene where Devki enters her classroom, we get a glimpse of Chandni. The moment she addresses the class, I bet one sees his / her favourite teacher right there on the screen. Thats it! From that moment, one is always there with Devki experiencing all her emotions and flowing with the film. The film hits the right chords. Not a single scene in the film is a waste. A horrendous crime happens in the film, but the way its depicted without going loud and flashy, leaves audiences in discomfort. Sridevi has literally lived Devki. The she cries we cry relation with her remains intact in this film her shivers, her vulnerability, even the shots where she isnt facing the camera, everything creates an impact. Silence speaks volumes here. Sridevi emerges winner yet again in her competition against her previous Best. Perfect example of raising the bars with every appearance. Rest of the cast too has done well. The film ensures that the audiences are glued to their seats till the end. Brilliant background score by A R Rahman. The story is predictable, yet everytime an expected twist happens, it still stirs the right emotion. The director has used symbolism to the core and has done so in a brilliant way. Team Mom has actually nailed it. Everytime one watches the film, one finds something new and interesting . The do is watch it on the big screen break free. Its an experience
Ankit Bhatnagar The movie is formulated so as to put stress on revenge factor more than the mom factor. It has a very average storyline with just a decent acting and direction.Storyline Rating: 2Acting Rating: 3 Sridevi: 3 Akshaye Khanna: 3 Adnan Siddiqui: 3 Abhimanyu Singh: 3 Nawazuddin Siddiqui: 3Direction Rating: 2Music Rating: 2Cinematography: 2Editing: 2
Suman Shakya "Mom" is a family thriller centered around a step mother who avenges the rapists freed from the court following the gang rape of her daughter. Besides, it includes her journey to come close to her estranged and traumatized daughter. The story is emotional, nuanced which gets a mesmerizing touch through the beauty of its camera work and stupendous performances from Sri Devi (after English Vinglish), Akshaye Khanna, and Nawazuddin Siddhique. However, in between the film becomes sluggish and feels weary to see how manipulative and clichéd its revenge drama becomes. Despite its flaws, the film feels compelling to view for the emotional layer the film carries till its last minute alteration.Rating: 3 stars out of 4
hermatician The movie is a loose thriller, due to the fact that every thrill of the screen play is easily predictable. Also astonishing is the fact that Sridevi after working in numerous Hindi movies, is not able to use a neutral accent but sounds like a south Indian, when the character played by her is a Sabharwal. Neither the girl sounds like a Punjabi (Sabhrwal). Only one character gives his best and that's Nawazuddin. Although, the director probably has tried comic dialogues from the character even when its not required. Nevertheless Nawaz has pulled that off too. Sridevi in a scene cries holding her tummy, is not appreciable. The problem is an actor with such a body of work credited to her resume should have made more efforts to do her job, when only one or two of her movies are on the deck. All in all, the movie is OK and deserves not more than a 4/10. Nawaz however gets an 8/10. 2 less due to the unwanted dialogues forced on him. Akshay Khanna was a rare ingredient to the recipe and he gets 7/10. He is a good and underrated actor and he should not keep the audience deprived of his real talent.
