Solemplex To me, this movie is perfection.
Rijndri Load of rubbish!!
Kidskycom It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
Merolliv I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
Reno Rangan It was originally known as 'S.W.A.L.K.', which means 'Sealed With A Loving Kiss', but for the foreign markets changed to as it's now. A pleasant surprise. Really. That I did not expect. Sometimes some movies are not meant to go and get as much it can, I mean I'm talking about the revenue. Yes, this movie had kind of disappointing domestic box office, though did fairly well outside. I am glad for seeing this wonderful film.I have seen 'A Little Romance', 'My Girl' and many more (find them in 'Similar movies' on below), I really love them, but this one was, just wow, made me speechless. When I want to remember or to suggest if somebody asks about children romance themes to watch with their children, nephew and niece, this one would definitely pop-out first for sure. Worth spending time together for this. The cast was so good. Everyone was excellent, from teachers, principle to parents and co-stars. Especially top three character performance leaves a mark to remember. No doubt why people created cult classic concept, so this movie will live on forever in fans unlike box office giants that comes with so big and fades away so fast. I already saw it a couple of times, mainly because of the clean blend between performance, music and innocent story theme.''When is the wedding, Danny lover boy?''The music was another plus point. All the soundtracks were very catchy and melodic like the title. The Bee Gees have done an exceptional job. Now I got another half a dozen of music tracks for my 'film songs' collection. I sometime hum 'Daaa dee da dee da da dah' and 'Melody fair' without my knowledge. Who doesn't love the 70s music, come on.Many had liked the film because it brings their childhood memories. And so it did to me. Makes how much we miss those days what we did when we were lack of awareness about the real world. Such concept was this movie where two preteen kids fall in love, but in a result the story takes an unorthodox, quirky twist. Initially it starts off with a friendship theory and slowly marks its destination to advance in that direction.Apart from the leading two, Melody and Daniel, the third character called Ornshaw was equally good who is a troublesome which makes one of our favorite. His masterplans and chewing gum are the highlight of that role and the movie. In one of the scenes where parents try to convince their children about the love and life was very touching. The way it ends is what I love the most and I don't want to know what is going to happen next. Like a fairy tale 'happily ever after' or maybe opposite, but we know there's a lot we are not going to know what they do the rest of their life till death comes. hehehe. I have not said the 'a must watch' for a long time, so here it goes that you must try this one.
Howard Schumann If you do not take its message of kiddy liberation too seriously, Melody, a British film from 1971 that has developed a cult following, has much to offer. Reuniting Jack Wild and Mark Lester, the two lead actors from Carol Reed's Oliver, Melody brings a charm and over-the-top audaciousness to the theme developed in the 1968 classic If, that students can be browbeaten just so long until the tables are turned. In this case, two youngsters who profess their undying love and demand the right to be married, (a rather unusual request for eleven year olds) leads to a set of circumstances than can charitably be called chaos.Melody Parker (Tracy Hyde) is the love interest and her natural beauty and grace make it at least understandable how an upscale lad like Daniel Latimer (Lester) could be smitten, even at his tender age. Latimer's pal Ornshaw (Wild) of course feels left out and tries to steer Daniel towards more commonly accepted mischief but eventually his frustration leads to a brawl and the need for reconciliation. Needless to say, the parents are clueless but since they are adults and the story is told by children for children - that is understandable if regrettable.Written by future director Alan Parker and produced by David Puttnam (Chariots of Fire), Melody is strongly enhanced by its musical score which contains some outstanding songs by the Bee Gees such as "Teach Your Children", "To Love Somebody", and "Working on It Night and Day". There are also moments of rich humor in the film. Daniel has a school buddy who wants to become an expert in explosives and his trial and error escapades bring a lot of laughs. There is also Melody's father (Roy Kinnear) who cannot stop telling stories in the most inappropriate situations. The high point of the film for me, however, is the ersatz marriage ceremony led by Ornshaw and the resulting mayhem that follows.Although Pascal said, "The heart has its reasons that reason knows nothing of", reason becomes a major casualty when parents and teachers from the school descend en masse to the railroad viaduct where the marriage ceremony is being held, leading to a hilarious if rather implausible conclusion. Melody, which might have been called Youth in Revolt, Part 1, has an innocence and charm that go down easy, that is, if you can overlook the disturbing implications of what the film is actually saying.
cem-payasli This very cute and romantic reminder of the 1970s had made quite a splash in Turkey when first shown under the title "Küçük Sevgili" (Little Lover) in Ankara more than 35 years ago. Now, I have a lot of friends who are desperately looking for the copies of this with Turkish subtitles. Personally I have scanned the related websites such as divxplanet but to no avail so far. In case copies with subtitles are not available, does anyone know how to carry the translations per fragments onto the fragments themselves? Mark Lester was already known for his top-notch performance in Oliver title based on Oliver Twist fiction from Charles Dickens, has grown a little older to the extent of aspiring to become a family head.
