StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
HotToastyRag A couple of movies back, I cautioned Jennifer Aniston against taking strictly "girlfriend" roles in which, if her character was eliminated from the story, there would be virtually no consequence. She must have heard me. In Management, she plays much more than a flighty, bohemian squeeze for a bigger star. She plays a skirt-suited, professional career woman, who takes a slightly odd love interest…and first billing. The script zigzags between dark comedy and awkward romance, matching the questionable pairing of Aniston and Steve Zahn. And while it masters neither genre, it's not at all unpleasant to watch. Some of the romance is cringe-worthy, and some of it is really sweet. I've seen it twice. Try it once and see if you like it!
barjo-915-203229 This is a quirky little film, and really sort of interesting. It's not a standard big bucks Hollywood comedy, it really comes across as a quirky indie film, or a bit more like a French comedy. While not amazingly funny, it has charm and cuteness. It's a bit of a character study of Stave Zahn's character, and I think at the same time, in Aniston's character, examines people who are married to their jobs and put their own lives second place to work. It also sort of touches on the concept of being in a rut, and people who let their lives slip away without doing what they actually want.Overall, a cute little film, and I would say worth watching, though don't expect a Hollywood Blockbuster comedy. Far better than its current rating of 5.9 on IMDb.
Cara Aherne OK, so thinking this would be a funny rom com it turned out to be a little more boring than what I expected, slow moving as I watched the movie as harmless as it was I couldn't help but think to myself if I turn this movie off right now I really wouldn't care and it wouldn't affect me. Therefore, this goes to show that the movie lacked drive and passion, it didn't upset me, it didn't enlighten me, therefore it did very little for me, It was OK but an hour and a half of OK is not good enough, I wouldn't bother if I were you as it is more miss than hit and its just one of those films that is instantly forgettable really. Aniston was the best thing about this movie as she is typecast for this role but if you liker her work its nothing that you haven't seen before, pretty singleton, sweet and lost in love you know the drill by now.
napierslogs Mike (Steve Zahn) is a hapless young man stuck in Arizona; Sue (Jennifer Aniston) is a young career woman on the move all over the country. He thinks he has something special with her but she just views his actions as inappropriate.Aniston's Sue comes across as mature and diplomatic—very different than Rachel and her other recent characters. While Steve Zahn's character was very well written. He's very awkward and inexperienced around women and his use of words shows that perfectly and humorously. He's also very observant and a good judge of character. These characteristics help him build a connection with Sue and move the film forward. At times, the structure of the story drags the film down a bit. The beginning is about introducing the characters and the second half has a more active plot when we meet Sue's on-again, off-again, and on-again boyfriend Janga (Woody Harrelson) and Mike gets closer to sorting out his life. The two halves aren't connected as well as they could have been but there is a bit of subdued humour sprinkled throughout."Management" is just a romantic comedy, but it has better written humour than most in the genre and much better written characters. I recommend it for its cute performances by Aniston and Zahn and for the little bit of inspiration that such real and developed characters can provide.
