Details

When her rather explicit copy is rejected, magazine journalist Kate is asked by her editor to come up with an article on loving relationships instead, and to do so by the end of the day. This gets Kate thinking back over her own various experiences, and to wondering if she is in much of a position to write on the subject.

Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
Lollivan It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
wes-connors "Monique" magazine writer Famke Janssen (as Kate Welles) nearly goes down when her article on how to please men is rejected. Tall and experienced in the oral act, Ms. Janssen tries not to blow her job by re-submitting a piece on relationships. Then, we follow Janssen through a linear array of men. The centerpiece of these is pseudo avant-garde artist Jon Favreau (as Adam Levy). The pair adopt kittens and argue over who produces a bad smell in bed... When she gets bored, Janssen takes up with muscle-toned Josh Hopkins (as Joey Santino), an actor who admires Robert De Niro. Also figuring prominently is fender-bender Noah Emmerich (as Eric). There are a few funny, well-written scenes by director Valerie Breiman, especially those involving Janssen and the secondary men. However, the leading players are more annoying than likable, and you may not care about their ability to reconcile differences.**** Love & Sex (1/24/00) Valerie Breiman ~ Famke Janssen, Jon Favreau, Josh Hopkins, Noah Emmerich
intelearts This is a good romantic comedy which some sharp dialogue, a little insight about how chemistry wins over looks, and the occasional foray into physical comedy.A good date movie for those who aren't 100% convinced that romantic comedies are there cup of tea, it has a little edge to it (Though it could have been edgier and we would have liked it even more...) The plot of magazine writer who has a love at first sight encounter with an artist (And the art is one of the best things in the film - adding a nice darker tone to proceedings) We really do hate the name of this film: it sounds like Jarmuschian nightmare stuff: but L&S is actually a good fun romantic comedy with nice quips, fun plotting, and some good acting along the way.Excellent after the break up movie, by the way....
Chrysanthepop 'Love & Sex' follows the old formula of romantic comedies and this one does not have the unique charm that many likable romantic comedies have. It starts off well and there are some funny moments but at some places it really drags. Janssen and Favreau have a good chemistry. However, Janssen doesn't seem quite comfortable with comedy. She's otherwise adequate. Favreau is not at his best either but he's quite good. I have liked them in other movie but here they seem to be let down by a poor script. The supporting cast do not leave much of an impression though David Schwimmer makes a brief but hilarious appearance. 'Love & Sex' is quite an average flick that does manage to draw a few chuckles. Watch it if you have nothing better to see.
darren-182 A funny, captivating film. Honest in its approach to portray the difference between people and true love. We all make connections we people through relationships but we may not always make the right decision at the right time. It may make you at crazy, but when you've been 'cheese sandwiched' then you will know that you don't want anymore. If you want to experience someone else's view on love and sex watch it, you might love it or hate it, either because you think its rubbish or because you might not like what its saying. But we all do it so why not humour yourself, after all were all looking for that one connection, the one piece of comfort we find in this ever lonelier world. -A bit deep? well its only an opinion!
