Details

Bentzi, Momo, and Yuda'leh are three teenage boys growing up in 1950's Israel, which is not much different from 1950's America if you believe what you see in the film. Of course they are obsessed with one thing - sex. Bentzi is interested in the beautiful Nili, but she prefers his friend Momo.

GamerTab That was an excellent one.
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Marva It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Sarita Rafferty There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
wayneclarke13 right guys first off I've been watching these films since i was a very small boy, these films especially this first one are all amazing, the soundtracks to most of them are brill,50s and 60s rock n roll tunes playing in the background of an old fashioned coming of age movie.music like bobby vinton, bryan hyland, etc etc,it follows the exploits of 3 friends, benji, huey and ladies man bobby, the plot lines are roughly the same on all films, benji falls in love, then gets hurt, bobby just has a good time, going from girl to girl, and unlucky huey who's always getting picked on,lol, but if your looking for a good old fashioned softcore titillation with an amazing soundtrack, then these films are definitely worth the look.
Jannis Petersen Since my early teenage years the title of this movie was in my, and of course in everyone of my friends', ears. First to say, I always wanted to watch this film but never had the guts to do so back then. Haven forgotten the title as years passed, I'm now 23 years old and just watched it for the first time - and I have to say, I'm totally stunned! The story line is very down to earth and pure realistic; I would guess about 90% of everyone watching this movie has had some of the same experience in his early teenage years. So don't get it wrong: this isn't comedy or a sex-film at all; it's pure drama - and when you know this in forehand, you will get, what you are searching for. I've read many reviews about people comparing this movie to American Pie and other modern teenage-movies. You shouldn't do that. This film is very far above the ones named and totally in another category - you cannot compare such two extremely different movies with another! As for the acting: even though for some scenes, you normally should dislike some of the characters, you will love them anyway. Reason is that you know what happens is so realistic, you could have been any of the characters yourself. And this is what makes the movie worth 10 stars! Open your memory-box and take a time-warp back to when you were 15 (in case you were 15 in the early '90s or earlier).
annualman Originally available in the UK on Hokushin Home Video (remember them??), this, the first of the Lemon Popsicle series, kind of showed what growing up in the 60s was really like (after the sanitised schmaltz of GREASE). Three horny teenage friends spend most of the film searching for love, sex, and parties, and they find all three in abundance. This film has a magnificent soundtrack of late 50s early 60s classics (which was released on blue vinyl in the UK) and some way over the top comic sequences which belie its non-mainstream production values; this film was made as a German-Israeli co productionby director Boaz Davidson. One of the stars, Zachi Noy, Huey (the overweight kid) has gone on to become a major star in his home country (even starring in a 9th instalment of the series released this year - see the imdb for further details). So, besides the music, I love the romance, I love the comedy, and I love the sex scenes which come across as very dirty in certain scenes. The first two sequels, Going Steady and Hot Bubblegum are also sheer brilliance; the fourth film Private Popsicle is okay, but the fifth in the series BABY LOVE is possibly the most awesome teenage film EVER made!! See it if you can find a copy - come on lets have DVD releases please!! Number 6 is total rubblish, and 7,8, and 9 don't seem to have been translated into English yet (or released in English anyway).Footnote: Lemon Popsicle was remade in the US in the mid-80s as THE LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN which also features a phenomenal 80s soundtrack and is recommended to all!! Any other fans of the series please contact me.
ROK Well now then after a comment like that how can I back it up. Well firstly by stating that this is obviously a subjective view. But to the movie. This was released in the UK on video in the early 1980's. It's the story of Benji, Bobby and Huey, well atleast those were the names in the English translation. This is an Israeli [not sure if that's how you spell that but you get the point] movie. It tells the story of the Boys search for Love and..... Sex basically. Making the point early on that the two are not necessarily connected.Benji the "quiet" one falls for a girl who he invites to a party, she says no but then turns up with his best friend, the `good looking' one, True to life or what! She eventually succumbs to Bobby's advances, and gets pregnant, at which point he dumps her. Benji stands by her organising an abortion and paying for it, well I never said this was a family film. At which point as soon as they return home .. well check out the end yourself, if you can get a copy that is, why I don't know but this is almost impossible to obtain a copy of. Other stories revolve around the boys visit to a prostitute, their catching of an embarrassing condition, And their run in with an Italian nymphomaniac while delivering ice.So basically if you want to categorise this movie it's a sex comedy set in the 1960's. But it's more than that. For a start it has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard, and the story and characterisation is in my opinion well up to the standard of Hollywood
