Chi Mo Sai (Yuen Wah) meets Wong (Roger Kwok) in Auntie Fei's (Yuen Qiu) cafe and learns that Wong has photographic memory. He decides to exploit this skill by teaching Wong how to play Mahjong, but Fei, Wong's boss, strongly objects to it. Despite Fei's objections, Wong learns Mahjong from compulsive gambler Chi Mo Sai. He impresses triad boss Tin Kau Ko (Wong Jing). Wong falls in love with Tin's mistress (Theresa Fu) and is beaten by Tin's men. Wong then becomes crazy. Luckily, Fei cured him using Mahjong. Fei wanted Wong to beat Tin in the "King of Mahjong" competition and be the King of Mahjong. The film ends with a climactic "King of Mahjong" Competition. It is the only film made in 2005 to boast of having a sequel made in 2005.

ShangLuda Admirable film.
PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Raymond Sierra The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Jenni Devyn Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
MartinHafer While this film is NOT really all that novel (being inspired by films such as Stephen Chow's SHAOLIN SOCCER and KUNG FU HUSTLE), it still is a lot of very silly fun. Now I am not talking about sophisticated fun, but a silly and over the top fun--the sort that teenagers and immature adults like me can enjoy. Sure, some of the jokes fall flat or are a bit too stupid, but most work well and you can't help but laugh throughout the film--it's just too bad that the film is so similar in spirit to these other film listed above--so it isn't exactly ground-breaking.The film stars several of the same Chinese actors that starred in KUNG FU HUSTLE and this wasn't a bad thing as they were very funny in both films. I particularly enjoyed the cigarette chomping lady (Auntie Fei)--she was just as endearingly nasty and dangerous in this film as she was in the other. However, viewers who have seen both films might also feel that it's really just a rehash--as the two films are so, so similar. BUT, if you want lots of this sort of thing, be happy as there are two sequels to KUNG FU MAHJONGG that have so far been released!! I really liked the film but don't especially feel compelled to see the other two films--a little Mahjongg goes a long way!By the way, if you, like most Westerners, know nothing about how to play Mahjongg, it really doesn't matter. I had no idea what was going on but enjoyed it just the same. Also, fortunately, the DVD also features a segment on how to play the game which you are encouraged to watch before the feature.
unkulfuka OK, I saw Kung Fu Hustle and I was in the mood for more hilarious kung fu antics. So I watched this movie called Kung Fu Mahjong. On this IMDb its called "Gong Fu Mahjong", but I'm sure its the same movie. So anyways I was expecting the same sort of thing because it had two of the same characters from kung fu hustle. (the land lady and her husband). Maybe I didn't get it because I don't know how to play Mahjong, or because I'm not Chinese. Or maybe this movie just totally blows. There are very few funny parts, it has absolutely nothing to do with kung fu, and it just drags on. I couldn't even finish the movie, I had enough. Don't watch this movie, its a complete waste of time.
fireyhope well of course, everybody knows the typical Asian gambling movie formula.hero wins at the beginning, gets a love interest, somehow loses it on the way, Loses some kind of sense or skill, pretends he loses it and wins.it never changes, it's a great typical wong jing flick! But of course in this movie there are a few misses of course poor direction and poor storytelling. but who doesn't like Forced over-dramatic love? where the love makes sense but goes so fast and drives the hero mad? anyways i love these type of movies, so if you liked God of Gamblers, You'll see how much this movie bites off of that but turns it into a comedy. Anyways if you like these kinds of movies, Yes definitely get them if you don't beware of poor directing and a lot of crazy jokes.
rich huang Hi everybody, this is my first time at posting comments, so bare with me if i make any mistakes. Overall, this movie is really horrible, Wong Jing is trying to hard to sell this movie as a comedy and after finish watching it, u can recall most of the jokes are rip offs from Stephen chow's slap-sticks and failed parodies of other hit movies, (eg. kill bill and Gong Fu hustle ). this movie is absolutely predictable and none-the-less , not funny, it seems that the funny has been erased from Wong jin's dictionary, or shall i comment that he can no longer make comedies without stephen chow. Now let's take a look at some individual performances, Roger Kwok is a good actor indeed, but their plot is just too boring and too cheap to work, i mean.....it's not the first time that he's portrayed as a person with mental sickness, in fact, it's been repeating itself over and over again ever since the hit TVB series "On Fu Shing Long", so i am a little disappointed at the scripts. Yuen Wa and Yuen Chow carries the exact style from gong fu hustle and it's just not funny with the settings of this movie. i would say the only eye candies in this movie is Theresa Fu and Iris Wong, boy did they look good and Iris Wong made a breakthrough performance as "Overbite Jen" (which not to mention is another ripped off character from Gong Fu hustle"Some last words, if your bored and really want to look for even more boringness, go see this movie....i give it a 10/10 on the boring scale
