J Besser Forgive me but it took a few times for me to really get this one. But, wow, this is a great movie. Wildly funny with a great cast. "Why does everything have to take so long?" is one of my all-time favorite movie lines. It's from 1981's forgotten but great "Four Friends". That not only describes the relationship of the two heroes but my own personal reaction to the great movie. Don't wait until Christmas to watch this one.

Prismark10 Just Friends stars Ryan Reynolds in a fat suit who plays Chris, the nice high school nerd who wants to declare his love for hot babe Jamie (Amy Smart) at the graduation party.Jamie likes Chris only as a friend which means platonic only relationship, no sex. Feeling humiliated Chris leaves his New Jersey town vowing never to return.Ten years later, Chris is a successful musical executive. He is thin, rich, handsome and a womaniser. However when he is sent to sign an emerging but spoilt pop star (Anne Faris) ends up in his home town with her when the plane is forced to make an emergency landing.Chris hooks up with his old friends, some are older, fatter and balding. He also sees Jamie and plans to impress her but it always ends up in disaster and humiliation for Chris.Just Friends is an easy going and charming comedy with a few good laughs. It is really a starring vehicle for Reynolds which did OK but not brilliantly in the box office.Reynolds hams it up in the fat suit, sings Backstreet Boys songs but even when thin, he cannot escape his past nerdiness which rather inverts this type of film where the geek becomes the Greek god.

Whas This movie lasts just 90 minutes and it's really boring and disconnected from reality. Who needs a romantic comedy that doesn't make you laugh and that it's not romantic at all? The whole plot is trivial and expect. I thought it to be special, but I was wrong. I rated it 3, just because the last 5 minutes are sufficient, but the rest would deserve 1 (awful). Life is not like that. I'm tired of people who produce movies just for money, writing down a plot that could seem beautiful, but it's not. The result is that the watcher feels offended. My final suggestion to you is to not waste your time watching this movie, just watch anything else, the world is full of wonderful movies!

SnoopyStyle Chris Brander (Ryan Reynolds) is an overweight teen and he's in love with his best friend Jamie Palamino (Amy Smart). But in an attempt to proclaim his love, he makes a fool of himself in front of a class party. And Jamie just want to be friends. Now they're grown up and he's not fat anymore. Plus he's a success in the music industry. He has to accompany a ridiculous pop princess Samantha James (Anna Faris). Their jet catches on fire and they land back in his home town. It just might be his chance to be more than friends with Jamie.Chris is an unlikeable character. And I don't think I rooted for him and Jamie to get together. Anna Faris is playing her character way too broad. At least I thought so, until the pond hockey game with the kids. The whole thing is full of anger, the characters are an unlikeable pathetic mess, and there are so many douchey characters. It's just too hard to root for anybody in this one.
