Brainsbell The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
SnoopyStyle Coco Chavez (Carla Gugino) lures men and blackmails them in small grifts with boyfriend Junior Armstrong (Simon Baker). They recruit Lizard Browning (Gil Bellows) and wild man Ruben Rubenbauer (Til Schweiger) to kidnap computer tycoon Ben Dyson who has a $4 million insurance policy to pay the ransom. It doesn't go smoothly as Coco kills Senator Rupert Hornbeck (Hal Holbrook)'s wife. Cynical police detective David Friedman (Alan Rickman) is forced to take the case along with an equally cynical FBI Agent Sadie Hawkins (Emma Thompson) as his partner.I can do without all the southern accents. Along with the mannered dialog, it becomes a bit annoying. The actors make a passable attempt at neo-noir. However it doesn't amount to anything compelling. Rickman and Thompson could have been a funny pairing but it's not enough. Sebastian Gutierrez is trying to be Tarantino but he's nowhere good enough especially for his first movie.
reno-47 In the DVD era, you would think you could find pretty much any piece of crap committed to celluloid and for the most part, it's true. So WHY, WHY is it so hard to find this great little flick, clearly done by people who love noir as a loving homage (buit never descending into spoof land) of that most cinematic of genres. Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman are a HOOT in this and superstar-in-the-making Carla Gugino (KAREN SISCO, SIN CITY) does her now trademark red hot babe/great acting routine. This movie really has it all for fans of film. A b noir on steroids, the clever and steamy JUDAS KISS succeeds on every count. Please Columbia TriStar PLEASE release it on DVD soon!!!!!!
Jade-Hassett This film, would have to be about the most pretentious load of rubbish that I have seen all year. I'm not trying to put down the actors in this film, as they are all very good actors. But it astounds me, as to how these actors could have been in such a lousy film. The characters were extremely flawed and the film only seemed to improve when Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman made appearances. These sort of characters do work in films, (ie such as Rush Hour one and Two and shanghi Noon) but they just didn't go along well with the plot. The plot was also extremely flawed and it did jump around too much. All I can say about this film, was that it was painful to sit through and I would not recommend this film to anyone. The screenwriter did a thousand times better job on Gothika then on this film.
caspian1978 After the release of Snake Eyes, every horny teenage boy ran out of the movie theaters wondering who that babe was in the film? Not many film buffs will recognize Carla Gugino in Snake Eyes. The reason for this is she looks nothing like she did when she starred in Son In Law with Paulie Shore. Today, Ms. Gugino is some of the best "Eye candy" on film today. Body language plus, Ms. Gugino is one of the biggest reasons why you should watch Judas Kiss. She makes the whole film worth watching...twice!
