Hellen I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
Stevecorp Don't listen to the negative reviews
Roman Sampson One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
Darin One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
markcasa-63624 Well during the last year I was living in London I was excited to seeing Jack the Giant slayer but sadly I was unable to see the movie for some reason. Just because I just didn't see it. I later saw this movie on an airplane coming from Miami to Dubai where we moved to in 2013. I really liked the movie and for a while it was one of my all time favourites. I remember when Ewan Mcgregers character jumping onto the beanstalk before the Giants could climb down and I was like. So everything is resolved, Jack and the princess are safe and none of the characters I like are dead, so I was like thats it right. But then the giants find some of the beans my the waterfall entrance and they use it to get down to the ground and I was like. Holy sh-t. This is going to be epic. Basically the rest of the movie is the giants trying to take down the castle and get inside and everyone is working together to try and stop them. Having not seeing this movie in a long time so I cant really talk about this movie that much. Why don't I do a pro and cons.Pros:1. Ewan McGregor was awesome in this movie. He's really good in all the roles he does.2. The music is pretty good.3. A-lot of the characters are really likeable to me, even the king.4. The last 30 minutes were just great.5. The giant leader and his second in command was awesome.Cons:1. That thing about the giants just wanting eat the princess or at least the giant king because she's related to the king who banished the giants by blood. Which I just find stupid.2. The main human antagonist Roderick dies looking like and idiot.3. The special effects aren't that good. Some stuff looks nice but the giants look like they were being rendered on screen. In my opinion the cgi looks better at the end of the movie, but it still looks bad in the first 2/3's of the movie. For all these things I give this movie a 10 out of 10. The bad stuff I listed isn't enough for me to hate this movie.
Leofwine_draca A remake of the '60s cult classic JACK THE GIANT KILLER, with improved CGI effects and less of a fun feel. Saying that, I did get a kick out of watching JACK THE GIANT SLAYER, which is far from the worst big budget CGI spectacle. In fact, I quite enjoyed it, a lot more than the likes of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY and ALICE IN WONDERLAND.The lack of a decent storyline is the worst thing about this film. Everything about the writing is clichéd and derivative: the too-obvious villain characters, the steadfast (and dull) heroes, the damsel-in-distress storyline. Nicholas Hoult is one of those bland, youthful, modern-day leading man who brings not one ounce of charisma to the role, although the supporting cast are a little better, especially Ian McShane (who, to my delight, gets plenty of screen time). It seems by this stage that the overexposed Stanley Tucci is desperate to appear in any old thing.Ewan McGregor is here too, stiff as a board and making STAR WARS jokes, which is embarrassing. Not as embarrassing as Ewen Bremner's dull-witted henchman, though. Eleanor Tomlinson's princess is pretty but also pretty vacuous, although that's more down to the writing than the actress. The film as a whole is dominated by CGI effects work, some good, some not so great. The important thing is that the CGI giants do look fine and are among the better CGI effects I've seen in modern cinema. One thing that amused me is that the storyline is tied up in little over an hour, so there's a whole tacked-on ending involving full-scale warfare which is actually more enjoyable than the simplistic quest storyline that preceded it.
MattyAndAnnika Jack the Giant Slayer is a nice film based on the Jack and the Beanstalk story. This movie is fairly put together with your basic comedy and adventure for the youth, all and all a decent family film. For the most part the graphics were good, the acting was fair for the cast which was selected and of course what script was provided to make a story. For the biggest part of the film which caught my attention the most was size proportions. In many instances when the giants and the humans were up close the size proportions varied a lot. The biggest example is where the giants first appeared in the movie with Jack, Jack was the size of the giant's foot, and in others he was the size of their leg, and again in other instances Jack was the size of their heads. Now other than proportions the film is fairly one point with the graphics and artistry. To best describe the acting styling within Jack the Giant Slayer is to simply think of "Robin Hood: Men in tights".One thing I did like about this movie is it's innuendo of mankind's response in a tragedy. In Jack the giant Slayer while the king and the rest of the king's people are are the ground level awaiting the return of the princess, the whole are turned into a fairground; sounds like man's reality huh? lmao yes, this is the typical thing for humans to do when tragedy strikes is to see who can profit the most.
Python Hyena Jack the Giant Slayer (2013): Dir: Bryan Singer / Cast: Nicholas Hoult, Eleanor Tomlinson, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane: A giant surprise epic based on the popular childhood story. It regards conquering fears although parents may wish to discern young children due to frightening scenes of giants attacking and eating people. It stars Nicholas Hoult as young Jack who is sent into town by his uncle to sell a horse. He ends up with magic beans, which when wet sprout a magical descending beanstalk into the clouds to a land occupied by giants. Legend has it that the previous beanstalk had been cut down severing connection. The hero was King Eric whose crown held the power to drive off the giants. Now years later the current king is betrayed by the successor who is suppose to marry his daughter. She is now the target of a rescue when she becomes prisoner to the giants. Jack joins several of the king's soldiers in the climb to uncertainty and danger. While the second encounter between Jack and the princess is too corny and contrived the screenplay is detailed and punctuated with a clever and heroic solution by Hoult, who as Jack, is the one character of any depth. Eleanor Tomlinson as the princess is about as lively as a feather pillow. Ewan McGregor as the leading soldier is flat despite nearly being baked alive. Stanley Tucci's villain Roderick is a familiar cliché. Ian Mcshane plays the one-dimensional king who would be more interesting with his Hot Rod persona. Director Bryan Singer successfully translates the fable with stunning visual appeal that render it a giant of a good time. Score: 7 ½ / 10
