Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Zlatica One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.
adonis98-743-186503 A sarcastic humanoid duck is pulled from his homeworld to Earth where he must stop a hellish alien invasion with the help of a nerdy scientist and a cute struggling female rock singer who fancies him. Based on Marvel Comics Howard the Duck character this old 1986 film starring Lea Thompson, Jeffrey Jones and Tim Robbins is actually quite the fun. It's silly for sure but it's charming too, it's not a film to be taken seriously and even the actors who signed in knows it especially Robbins was wacky as hell, Jones looks and sounds like a Ghostbusters villain, the special effects for their time are quite good and besides some "sexual" references with Thompson's character this was a pretty good film. (8/10)
elsager I LOVE Howard. Who is Howrard, you ask? Howard is the Duck.In this cult classic, Howard the Duck has to come to earth accientally and then he falls in love with the mom from BTTF. I like it because the mom from BTTF the future is a good funny actress and I like it.Anyway, gotta go! Peace, Howard Nation!
OneEightNine Media Much to my dismay, I watched this because of GOTG 2. I knew this was going to be garbage going in. But what gets me is how well produced this film is for something done in the 80s. You know what? I know what this film feels like. This film feels like something the current DC universe would put out. Totally well produced garbage. Neat special effects but with a story practically written in crayon and dumbed down for a fourth grade audience while having crude adult oriented sexuality just for the hell of it. But yeah, at least Marvel learned their lesson.
Smoreni Zmaj This is the first Marvel movie and, after of course Guardians of the Galaxy, definitely most entertaining one of all about 25 I've seen so far. Movie was theatrical disaster and won bunch of "awards" for worst movie, directing, acting, etc. Is it artistic masterpiece? Od course not. But it was not supposed to be. Movie title is Howard the Duck, what those people expected from the story about alien duck that saves the world from evil space demons...I enjoyed it very very much and I intend to watch it many more times. It may lack artistic value, but other Marvel blockbusters don't have it either. The only thing that rises them above this one is high budget and CGI. But while they have arrogantly pretentious, Howard is down to earth honest adaptation of the comic-book that does not pretend to be something it is not, which is two hours of cheerful action for comic-book fans.8/10 (maybe even 9)
