Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
aliuelic On the one hand, like most reviewers who have seen this movie, I fully agree that the plot is incoherent and unsatisfactory, even worse than the first High School Musical. On the other hand, I feel a little embarrassed to admit that I like the songs in the movie, particularly Gotta Go My Own Way as sung by Vanessa Hudgens & Zac Efron, and Zac Efron's solo, Bet on It. In a nutshell, I think High School Musical 2 is a collection of MVs, just forget the story, and enjoy the songs.
Dazz Camponi The High School Musical gang returns in a sequel but is this any good? The story is mediocre and it's improved from the first movie but its way more predictable and more cheesy than the first, which I didn't think was possible. The characters weren't done very well but we got to see a lot more of Taylor who is played by the beautiful Monique Coleman. There wasn't really much character development from any of the characters except for Ryan who was played by Lucas Grabeel who wants to have his time in the spotlight instead of his fame-obsessed sister Sharpay. The acting is yet again mediocre in this installment but it's a lot better this time round, Zac Efron actually did a better job playing as basketball star Troy and Vanessa Hudgens was, as usual, great as Gabriella. The songs are also a lot better and catchier than the first as well as the dance routines. The choreography and the dances were executed well and the songs were a lot better. There were a couple that were stuck in my head after watching the movie, one being 'What Time Is It?'. The big song that was supposed to be the best song in the movie was great but it was forgettable. Also the singing is a lot better too. High School Musical 2 is enjoyable and watchable.High School Musical, for me, was a decent movie but this was better but not by much. Yeah the story has improved and so have the characters and the songs but it still remains to be seriously cheesy which isn't really a bad thing since you expect it. I liked the songs and enjoyed the dances and the movie was decent, it's definitely stuck to its target audience. Even though it was a little bit better than the first, it still hasn't changed that much to make my score go higher than a six.Read more reviews at: www.dudedazzmoviereviews.wordpress.com
wwe7961 This is the first High School Musical movie I have forced myself to endure, and it is a total piece of garbage. I mean wow I knew it was going to be lame, but I had no idea. The acting is awful, the dialogue is terrible, the songs are bad, there is so many clichés your eyes will burn, there is an extremely poor excuse for a plot, and it is so lame that you feel like an idiot for watching even if your only watching it to make fun of it. This is one of the most torturing movies I have ever seen. There is also a thing in the movie that just made me angry. Throughout the movie a few characters say they don't like to sing and dance despite them breaking into song all the time. When I saw that in the movie I felt like bashing my head in with a hammer. It is like the movie knows that it will squeeze tons of dollars out of little girls' parents pockets so why try to make sense. This movie on the lame-ometer gets a 194,381,491,233. So now that I have described my hate for this film is it worse than "Hannah Montana the Movie"? No. While this film is a total piece of garbage Hannah is a slightly bigger piece of garbage. It as of right now remains the worst film that I have seen that has the Disney name attached to it. HSM2 comes at a close second. Hopefully the other HSM films are at least tolerable.0 stars out of 4
TheLittleSongbird Like I said when I reviewed the first movie, I love musicals, I love Disney to death and I like high-school movies(ie. Clueless, Mean Girls). However I do not like the High School Musical movies. I'm not bashing anyone who likes them, it's all a matter of taste, but for my taste I find it too predictable and juvenile. On a plus note, the choreography is spirited and impressive, however the songs are forgettable, the singing is only tolerable, the characters are clichéd and stereotyped, the story is incredibly predictable, the dialogue is terrible and the direction is lacking. In terms of acting, it's nothing special, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are merely okay but I have never liked their characters and the chemistry isn't quite there and the supporting performances are not any better.Overall, not great and no improvement on the first. 1/10 Bethany Cox
