GazerRise Fantastic!
Glimmerubro It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Robert B Pomicter Jr This thoughtful and well researched film is not about decriminalizing marijuana, nor is it a documentary film about drug use. This film focuses on the production of HEMP, as a fiber plant, its uses as such, and makes very clear distinctions between the hemp plant and its "cousin", marijuana. The history of hemp is well portrayed... including its use in rope making, clothing, etc. Emphasis is placed on the plants usefulness in the WWII efforts to provide rope literally, miles of it, and how quickly after WWII the plant became illegal. The film is very balanced... e.g. NO EFFORT was made to demonize Dupont, Corp. ...other films do this...(citing the invention of nylon as a major factor in the criminalization of hemp)etc. but rather, most of the film centers on the usefulness of the plant and the issue of the confusion in government in the "political treatment" over this plant as a "crop" or a "drug".Well written, informative, and focused on farming of Hemp as a natural resource that very useful in reduction of deforestation, etc. This is NOT a film to watch if you are looking for a pro-legalization/decriminalization of marijuana as a drug. The film does not even go there at all, despite some well known actors and advocates.
petropolisy I rated this film as a go see but if you are outside the USA then I would only watch it to see a USA documentary about how strange the customs of Yankees are. Editing, filming, style etc. are OK. This film is about the weed, hemp. It has been used for making rope and fabric as you may know. In the USA they have the bizarre notion that this plant is causing problems. This is a contemporary USA centric documentary, but where can you find such big stars in such a small budget film. Most of the USA boomer's know that smoking is bad and so is excessive drinking but as their Glaucoma, Alzheimer's and week ropes come to light they may reconsider their stand on this useful plant. Silicone barest implants tobacco are legal IN the USA, with no know benefits but this useful plant..... Bob Marley rock on.
