Peter Blok Even though no one from Diebold Election Systems admitted to having seen the film, Diebold President David Byrd suggested that Hacking Democracy was "replete with material examples of inaccurate reporting", and demanded that it not be aired. His criticism was based on an earlier film made by the same three filmmakers. However, HBO refused to remove it from their schedules. In addition Diebold wrote a letter to HBO referring to the famous vote changing 'Hursti Hack' featured in the film, claiming that "Harri Hursti is shown attacking a Diebold machine in Florida. But his attack proved later to be a complete sham." This statement by Diebold was proved to be wholly wrong by independent computer scientists at UC Berkeley who investigated the Hursti Hack.

This documentary is an eye opener to the corruption of what is supposed to be a "pure" given right of our vote and voice to be heard. But when your voice (vote) can be manipulated, then democracy is not there. This movie shows how there are three companies who provide these machines and all the so called security and accuracy they have. But the truth is shown that these machines can easily be tampered with. I just heard that there are devices you can get so that when you go up to the computer and vote you can manipulate the system as you vote. We have chosen this high tech system which leaves no paper trail to the truth.

tom-1674 This timely HBO production should be required viewing for all voters. It shows irrefutable proof of vote tampering in past elections, as well as serious flaws in the machines being used to count votes in upcoming elections - including Nov. 7th, 2006.Since the subject matter is so huge, trying to cover it all in the time allotted would be impossible. However, the producers decided to concentrate on the activities of just one group of many exposing election fraud - Bev Harris from BlackBoxVotingThe U.S. needs more people like Bev. Many more. Now. Without the vote, you have nothing but a dictatorship.

james-ginch I just saw this documentary on HBO last night.The timing of this program could not have been more perfect. Right after Halloween, I was scared plenty.I had long been aware of many of the facts depicted. However, until I saw a hacker change the votes on a Diebold Memory Card before the votes were cast, and change the results of the test vote, I was neutral on this issue.We Americans who have been worried about this very issue have been culled into silence by those who would call our concerns "Conspiracy Theories" This film should dispel any such notion and wake up most citizens to demand more security in our voting process. The film depicts at least 3 major issues, from Al Gore actually receiving negative votes in Volusia County, FL, to the final coup de grace, the hacking of the actual memory card. Diebold Officials deny any such vulnerability, but they have no answer for the filmed facts. In fact, a well known politician from Colorado actually owns an interest in one of the voting machines known to contain serious vulnerability. This machine was used during his landslide election victory. It appears that optical scan ballots are the most easily hacked. Wake up, America, it's possible that our "free elections" are not really free at all, and we have absolutely no way to find out for sure. Write your Congressman and demand a serious investigation.We must not be complacent about our most fundamental democratic right! At the very least we must demand verifiable paper ballots to make sure our votes are not hacked.
