Stephen Abell This is the slasher picture of modern times. In the era where webcams are becoming more popular, especially in the sex industry, this asks the question, do you know who's watching you?Instead of cam'ing on their own, this brings a group of beautiful girls together at the Girl House owned and run my an internet entrepreneur. This gives paying viewers a chance to watch the girls at sleep, rest, and play. Unfortunately for the girls, one of their viewers is Loverboy, a mentally unstable character with a violent and abusive past.Even though the characters are very stereotypical of this type of film the cast breath new life into them, especially Slaine who plays the troubled Loverboy. It also helps that the directors Jon Knautz and Trevor Matthews have the skill to create tension and to be able to build up the pace and excitement when needed. This, in turn, makes it an entertaining film. One of the main things I loved about the film was the shallow character of Devon, played well by Alyson Bath. Though it wasn't all down to her portrayal it was her character and how it changed once Loverboy attacked. It's an original ending to the character, though totally believable and sad... and one of the reasons I liked the movie. It just elevates it above a normal slasher flick. There are a couple of issues that niggled me, I know that Loverboy needs to be a computer hacker to be able to find the Girl House, though his character doesn't come across as that type of person. The other was the stereotypical killers mask... why did he even need to wear one, again it seemed out of character - it'd be nice if a stalker for once, didn't go, Myers, Voorhees or Leatherface, on us.This is a decent film and at least worth watching once, even more so, if you like the genre.
Leofwine_draca GIRLHOUSE is a lame Canadian slasher set in the titular location, which is kind of a BIG BROTHER house for Internet voyeurs. The cast are a bunch of attractive young women who make their money by shooting webcam sex videos and living their lives in full view of the cameras, so there's plenty of racy nude and lingerie scenes mainly used as a backdrop for the main tale. The killer is one such voyeur, an overweight guy whose character is revealed through a well-done back story. Unfortunately the rest of the film is merely routine and boring, featuring characters being bumped off one by one by the masked maniac; the killers are quite bland as well and hardly anything to write home about. The script is derivative and none of the actresses has much of a chance to shine, which leads you to wonder what the point of it all is.
Carlos Perez Miquilarena I saw this last night because the plot really caught my attention, and I was very pleased with it. This movie tries to do something different, many people may say it is the same as all slasher films, but this ''girlhouse'' thing is something I had never seen before, and it was very entertaining. The killer was creepy af, they definitely payed homage to the Texas chainsaw massacre because when the killer wore the mask it was extremely similar. Nonetheless, it has its flaws of course, it could have been pulled off smarter, this movie doesn't escape from some clichés, like knocking the killer out and instead of just finishing him, they just run away and hide, I mean they filmed a hammer he had attached to his back, she could have grabbed it and just killed him right there; also, some of the acting could have been better, but I really enjoyed this film, the main character was likable and not stupid, actually, there weren't that many stupid moves in this film, would watch it again, totally.
fredschepers Seen some reviews and noticed the ratings. As far as I am concerned, they don't do justice to this film. Is it a cheap-teen-slash-B-film? Don't think so. Good story, good acting, good end.Iam not going to spoil anything, but feel that I have to do bring balance in some other weird reviews, realizing that everyone is entitled to his own opinion. The killer does have a very clear motive and background. You can see that in the very beginning of the film. The killer his job is not a weird job, and his hobby at home is not weird. His knowledge is not far fetched, and basically he would be the perfect real live profile of a serial killer.Don't expect a cheap and bloody slash film. The film is very well balanced as a thriller with some very bloody moments. But nothing overdone here like. It's easy to get into the film with the intentions of the GirlHouse being very clear. Nothing disguised, but clearly not a porn film. The love/romantic bits in it are genuine. The violence and bloody moments are well proportioned. No exceeding and long winding screaming. No wrong doors with no where to hide scenes that every human being would avoid. The "scary" scenes are well timed. Not too long and not too short. Just enough to keep your attention. All escapes, whether they succeed or not, are perfectly acted. No unnatural behavior in this. Finally a slash film we enjoyed. Lots of tension, lots of gorgeous woman, an environment in which half the world can find (him)self. A film you can identify with. A film that is realistic enough.Definitely worth an 8.
