Hellen I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
Huievest Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
Abbigail Bush what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Tobias Burrows It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
iamwhitewica This should be in a bargain bin. I have rarely seen such idiotic characters. If they would not have died I would kill them myself for such bad acting, makes you want to punch them and kill them yourself. Especially the 3 girls, actually forget this, all characters are acting like dumb idiots with no brains and no nerves.Besides the cast that keep screaming at everything, they don't react. None of the actors in this movie seems real. NO ONE would react like these pathetic zombies, and if they do; they deserve to die!The movie plot is good and with good acting and directing this could be a very strong movie. The directing and acting makes this version so lame that it should be burned.I love B movies cause there is something in them you don't get in the Hollywood big flicks; soul. This movie however has no soul, no body, not much besides the amazing story idea. I wish someone would pick it up and make a real movie with real actors. (Is is so bad that you need to really want to see the end to endure the acting, again, it is soooooooooooo bad I couldn't believe it.)A movie to watch, painfully, just to get the story behind it, good story, destructive acting and directing.
ksf-2 So the opening credits say "Story by Humphrey Humbert", but that's really just Umberto Lenzi, the Italian writer/director who has done SO MANY horror flicks under various names. He doesn't waste any time getting into the gross, gory murders. This one is definitely NOT for the kiddies! No big names here. "Paul" is a ham radio nut, and he hears strange things over the air, and of course he gets involved. This leads to TROUBLE.... bad acting. bad directing. campy. and now available on Blue Ray !Martha, the girlfriend ? wife? has an odd accent, because the actress seems to have been born in Chermany. Paul is miraculously able to pinpoint where the weird broadcast is coming from in no time at all, and they let themselves into the house..... always a good idea. Some okay special effects, but the sound dubbing is WAAAY off, and there are so many TERRIBLE edits, it's distracting. One of Lenzi's later works -- its so bad, its a camp classic at this point. It's a 1980's time capsule... the hairdos and the clothes. Kind of like a John Waters if he did horror films. Check it out! Recently released on a double disk with "Witchery".
trashgang Italian horrors are flicks that stand on their own. Mostly they have their typical score (Goblin is famous for making sounds and music) and the overall look immediately says , this is an Italian flick. On the other hand most of them look cheesy and not everybody loves them. Therefore the Italians knew what to do. Give the release another title clocking in on other successes. There are many examples and this one here surely fits in it. When Evil Dead (1981) was released in Italy it was called La Casa 1. Later on of course Evil Dead II (1987) was released as, you guessed it, La Casa 2. To be sure of selling Ghosthouse it was released as La Casa 3.Naturally it had nothing to do with Evil Dead but it wasn't that bad after all if you can dig Italian gore. The main lead was Lara Wendel who we knew from Tenebre (1982). The other actors aren't that well known, some made it into the B-flick scene's and some are still busy up to today, a thing we couldn't say from our main lead who stopped in 1994. The director was Umberto Lenzi, famous from the gory Cannibal Ferox (1981). It all looks promising but for a flick made in 1989 the effects are rather cheap and even laughable. The thing that sticks to your mind is in fact the creepy soundtrack. The vicious doll wasn't scary or whatsoever but combined with that particular score it did work. The flick itself starts of pretty gory and one slashing of a throat is done on-screen. From there on it falls a bit on the gory parts but it does work storywise. The acting isn't always top notch but that's also typical Italian, isn't it. A nice flick surely to catch full uncut, only two versions aren't cut, the VIPCO release and the extreme limited 666 copy release (B cover) from X Rated Kult. The latter I viewed, included was the soundtrack. If this flick would have been released early eighties it would have fit into that era but for 1989 it's way to cheesy. Gore 2,5/5 Nudity 0/5 Effects 3/5 Story 3/5 Comedy 0/5
Michael_Elliott Ghosthouse (1987) ** (out of 4) Italian horror film from director Umberto Lenzi about a haunted house and the fools who dare enter it. While this plays itself as a haunted house film, clearly influenced by The Shining, in reality it's just another excuse for over the top gore and violence. Lenzi manages to get a few creepy scenes out involving a dead girl and her doll but these only last a few scenes. The film starts off pretty good but falls apart when a couple kids try to uncover the mystery behind the house. The gore effects are rather strong and extremely well done so splatterheads should have that to enjoy.
