Michael Ledo In Long Beach, there is a turf war going on. Firefighter Jeremy Coleman (Josh Duhamel) is a witness to a murder and has been placed in the witness protection program where he falls in love with a US Marshall (Rosario Dawson). Bruce Willis plays local police chief Mike Cella who would like very much to see crime boss David Hagan (Vincent D'Onofrio) go to jail. While in the program, the bad guys find out where Jeremy is located and threaten to kill everyone Jeremy knows and their family. Jeremy goes vigilante in order to save himself and everyone else. He also gives us overwhelming clues about the ending.I liked the climax of the film, in spite of the fact I knew it was coming from 30 minutes into the film. The script was overly predictable and the dialouge wasn't moving. Vinnie Jones gives us a brief bad guy, and likewise 50 Cent wasn't on screen that long. I would have liked to have seen more of Willis in the film.Might work as a 99 cent rental for some people. Not a keeper.Parental Guide: F-bombs, implied sex scene, no nudity. Torture. Bullet holes in the head.
Kirpianuscus The fans of action movies. or fans of actors. because it is one of many films with precise target. fight, revenge, fire, decent performances and a love story. not only predictable. but ...strange. not for story, not for less credibility of many scenes but for the eccentric idea to give a role - perfect for a younger Bruce Willis- to Josh Duhamel who seems out of his character almost scene by scene. the second problem is the role of ...Bruce Willis . except few punches, he plays, in good way, an almost blank character. Vincent Onofrio , looking as Truman Capote, is one of few good pillars of this mixture of different levels of revenge plan. so, a film for fans.
David C. Bohn Muddled and confusing, plodding and slow-moving. Airhead children becoming accidental heroes. Bruce Willis is totally wasted. Not as much as in 'Cold Light Of Day', and 'Extraction', for he has a lot more screen time, but his character could be eliminated from this script, and no one would notice. Can't believe he did this movie. And, Willis is not the only thing wasted. I wasted 97 minutes of my precious time watching it. The only thing positive I can say about it is that Vincent D'Onofrio is good actor. It takes a good actor to make one hate his character, and he did that very well, though he, too, is far above this garbage. Avoid it at all costs!!
kingdio There's nothing special about this action B-movie. Despite a good cast, the movie screams of mediocrity. The main reasons are a bad script and Josh Duhamel. He fails to captivate at every turn. Bruce Willis actually does a little work as the grizzled detective, and Vincent D'Onofrio is his reliable self as the ruthless bad guy. It's the story of a fireman (Duhamel) who witnesses a very bad guy (D'Onofrio) kill a convenient store owner and his son. It turns out the bad guy is a gang leader out to take take over drug operations and general evil doings in the hoods of Long Beach. He's an ex-con, a white supremacist, and he has escaped serving jail time before by killing witnesses. So the fireman is taken under the protection in the witness protection program. But when the bad guy finds him and takes aim at him and his new special lady (Dawson), the nice fireman decides to turn the tables. The hunted now becomes the hunter. Typical, good-guy-turned- vigilante revenge scenes follow where the fireman starts taking down bad guys and is a little torn about it, at first. The movie is very by-the- numbers, but watchable if you like these type of direct to DVD type action movies.
