Contentar Best movie of this year hands down!
InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
FirstWitch A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
Tayyab Torres Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
sissonkim-71820 Very engaging! I never imagined a film shot in the desert could be so captivating! The characters became my friends and I found myself believing the world created on the screen. Thinking, "Oh, so that's what you eat when you're lost in the desert." Great message too. Loved it!
sisson-bk It's a minimalist film set in a world outside of the logic and rules of existence/physics we know. The directing and cinematography are phenomenal and draw you in while the plot moves slowly unfolding in a labyrinth of very subtle metaphors along the way.All great things said about the directing and photography, it is a low budget film and you can tell at times, whether that is intentional or not it can take the viewer out of the film. With some polishing on set design/wardrobe, lighting/location, and color/look it would make a phenomenal film and a great cult classic addition to indie film.
Boristhemoggy This film is such genius you don't even realise it at first watching. During my third time of watching it I found quotes that were directly related to my life. The same happened with the fourth and fifth time of watching. The beauty is you can also make the story exactly what you want it to be, because although they end up searching for the crystal lake, there is no real reason or point to the story and no explanation as such. The direction, editing, cinematography, screenplay and acting are all top notch. Cross and Garner are sublime and both become my fave actors on the strength of this movie alone. Ohs and Sisson deserve an Oscar for this and I suspect this film will be around on the fringes for many years to come.
screechy_jim If I had to guess I would say that the producer/s of this film used it as a test-bed or learning platform for developing their knowledge of acting, directing, screenplay, script writing and just film production in general. If not that, it may just be a vanity project. I can't really see any other way to view it because as an independent piece for the purpose of enjoyment it has very little value. This film is to movie entertainment as elevator music is to a live concert. That said for what it is, it isn't half bad, and there isn't much to criticise for what I think it's trying to achieve. The music is probably the outstanding component in this film. There's some cool stuff which works very well here and I liked it.Its not a bad movie by any measure, and I know my previous comments may sound contrary to this statement but I'm trying to be honest and objective within the framework of this piece as I understand it. OK the Sci-fi aspects are fairly superficial and no detail or depth has been undertaken to impart any realism or validity, but that's about it. The acting pretty good, directing is solid, screenplay is a little bland, script could do with another pass but it's a good effort. I managed to sit through it easily enough despite it being obvious early on that very little was ever going happen, or that it was going to follow any logical format.I wouldn't recommend it unless your a film student, have it on in the background whilst your multitasking, or just spaced out on something, but I still think it's and OK piece.
