Stevecorp Don't listen to the negative reviews
Glimmerubro It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Kevin-190 It's a huge shame this movie didn't get more recognition than it did... and that people these days have never heard of Eddie and his cruisers. That would be my 23 year old roommate (as of 2010). To her, these older movies are like finding a diamond in a box of Cracker Jacks. We already knew from the first movie that Eddie lived (shown at the very end). Even though I knew that fact, I found a profound sense of closure from this movie. We now get to see Joe/Eddie wrestle with his obsession for perfection and his love for music... with the music winning this time.Joe plays both the teacher and the student as he comes to terms with his past. I truly enjoyed watching Hilton, the saxophonist, guide Joe along the correct path while Joe, in turn, shows Rick the nuances of good music and truly great music. I think my favorite part is when Joe approaches Sal, to ask for his forgiveness. Or maybe when Hilton realizes who Joe really is? If you didn't see the first movie, a lot of this wouldn't make sense... but, that's how sequels work... right? Both 'Eddie and the Cruisers I & II' are movies that I have watched many times in the past and will watch many more times in the future. The music is both inspiring and haunting, the story is classic self- realization and comeback. I have to admit, at the end of the movie, I found the crowd's acceptance of Joe admitting he was truly Eddie Wilson to be a bit unrealistic.
Fred Smith You can't possibly have made a worse sequel than this. It relates nothing to the original except for Michael Pare being in it. They totally wrote off Frank, Joann, Kenny, heck even Doc. Like this was going to work without all them in there. Plus the music which was great in the original soundtrack is at best average here. You want a good sequel to the first cruisers soundtrack, get John Cafferty's Tough all over album. Now thats really good. For the people who like this lousy movie, you obviously never saw the original. Which is by far superior in every way to this garbage. This is movie is a total disappointment. But when you get none of the original cast, writers or director, this is what you get. Eddie doesn't live in this bomb. He really drives his car into the drink.
coach52 Have watched both Eddie & the Cruisers movies and I really enjoyed them. The storyline might be a bit thin, but the sincerity of the 2nd film really shows through. The best part of both films though is the music, I have both soundtrack CD's and the extra CD released a few years later and I play them regularly. It's a pity John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band never got to Perth, I would certainly have gone to see them on the strength of the music from these films. If you haven't seen either of these films, don't take any notice of the bad reviews you hear or read, take the time to watch them both, you will come away feeling good (and loving the music).
Gary-26 The "Eddie and the Cruisers" story had such potential for a great sequel; I always felt that the end of the original movie had more questions unanswered than the beginning. That's why I was so interested in seeing a sequel. Unfortunately, the sequel very much disappoints, not because it is such a bad movie but because it is not nearly as good as it could have been.I don't fault the actors so much as I do the writer(s) in particular and the director. The movie is full of every record/music industry cliché one can think of. The actors are given dialog and made to look like a point in time. Yes, it was made in the glitter 80s, but one of the strengths of the "Eddie" story to me at least was the timelessness of the man and his music, and while the music itself in the film upholds that, all the people making the music are made to look like an 80s glam band.Except for Eddie himself. I've always like Michael Pare, especially in the original Eddie and in Streets of Fire. These roles were perfect for his looks and his on screen personality. In this sequel, he maintains the continuity with the original character. It's just too bad that he wasn't given a more subtle and fuller script to show how twenty years changes a man whose life had gotten to the point that he felt the need to disappear and start over.
