RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Marva It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Justina The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
patboldt This "Big Picture Show" is one of the best finales for anything....ever! The opening 20 minutes quite possibly is one of the best pieces of animation in Cartoon Network history with slow build up and huge payoff. That's not to say that the rest of the movie isn't good, it is, but the opening 20 minutes is just phenomenal. The actual animation itself, the tension, and the writing are just perfect. If it carried that for the entirety of the movie, I would easily give this 10 stars, maybe even 11. That being said, the movie itself is quite good for Ed Edd n Eddy and feels like a loving homage to fans of this cartoon and a passion project like the modern Samurai Jack reboot. For a comedy cartoon like this, I never expected it to get emotional and deep, nor did I expect it to get dark. And this is for a series which has a creepy theory that everybody is dead and in purgatory! The main trio are the stars in this story and every second they have on screen is just golden from the moment they are introduced to the encounter with Eddy's brother. The problem is that the movie spends a lot of time on the side characters. Of them, only Rolf, Johnny, Sarah, and Jimmy are actually interesting. The whole thing with Kevin and the whole bike subplot kinda comes out of nowhere and doesn't do anything exceptional and the Kanker sisters don't do that much despite having considerable screen time. Also some jokes don't really work, but they are pretty rare so it's not a major flaw. What really makes the "Big Picture Show" amazing is that it has so much love put into it. This easily could have been a cheap gimmik to make some easy money but the creators really went out of their way to make this as amazing as possible. The sound editing and cartoon violence are the best parts of the animation (it feels like Tom and Jerry violence and it's so beautiful.) As for sound editing, every sound effect is just great and it's so satisfying to hear constant animal sounds, it makes everything seem chaotic which perfectly goes well with the tone and atmosphere. Overall I'd give the opening a 10/10 and the rest a solid 8 out of 10. This is wonderfully made and easily the best TV special ever made, at least for Cartoon Network.
Owen Ogletree I grew up watching "Ed, Edd n' Eddy" all the time and now at 19, I still love the show! This film was a fantastic finale to the series. It didn't feel like a stretched-out episode of the show; it really felt like a big-time adventure. The story was very eventful with the Eds having done the most unforgivable scam. The kids of the cul de sac are looking to get their vengeance, and the Eds are traveling to find where Eddy's brother lives for protection. They need to make it there before the kids catch them. The opening chase scene was really exciting and established that what the Eds did was really horrible. I love that they left it to our imagination what exactly they did. With the many far away places the Eds travel to, the film has a great sense of adventure. You were really with them the entire time while they are putting together the pieces of the puzzle of the whereabouts of Eddy's brother. There are many fantastic components that really make this a fitting way to wrap up the series. The scene where Eddy and Double D have a big fight but Eddy then admits that he screwed up is genuinely touching. It was awesome to finally meet Eddy's brother and to learn that everything Eddy told was a lie. I also loved that after Eddy's confession, the Eds finally won the love and respect of the kids of the cul de sac.Needless to say, this film also has the same laugh-out-loud humor to which fans of the series have become accustomed. The film ties together everything about the series and wraps it all up perfectly. This is a must-watch for all "Ed, Edd, n' Eddy" fans!RATING: A+
thatshagman2013 One of the best made for TV movies, it was full of surprises! I would like to watch this movie over and over again, but Ed Edd n Eddys Big Picture Show was sadly never released on DVD, it was the best way tp end the series, but im wondering why it was never released on DVD, it should, and Im doing everything I can to make it happen! It made me laugh so hard that milk came ou of my nose. It also shocked me when Eddys older brother was actually show, which really gave me a huge shock when I watched it. I really don't understand why it was never released on DVD. It was one of the best movies that Cartoonetwork made for TV, so who else thinks that Ed Edd n Eddys big picture show deserves to be on DVD?
Benjamin_406 If certain theatrical films, like "the Lion King", "Finding Nemo", and "Kung Fu Panda", can be very successful and memorable in characterization and storytelling, then TV movies can be like that, too. And "Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show" is one superb example.Basically, the movie centers on the Eds searching for Eddy's brother after Eddy's latest scam backfires big time. (Only the Eds fans know exactly why the scam flops out - sort of.) And all the kids of the Cul-De-Sac have to track them down to avenge for themselves before those troublemakers can reach their destination. Aside from maniac animation and ultimate level of humor, there's one thing that hasn't been overlooked throughout the whole film: heart. The story of "Ed, Edd n Eddy's Picture Show" has been split into many parts: the Eds, Kevin and Nazz, Jonny and Plank, Sarah and Jimmy (later merged with the Kanker Sisters and Wilbur), and Rolf and Wilbur. But unlike "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa", there's a sufficient amount of story for each set of characters - not too much nor too little. It's all because of the superb sense of direction of the movie. Even the film is almost well-structured, too. (The beginning is a perfect example!) And it seems that the creative artists of "Ed, Edd n Eddy" had managed to take the TV movie to "the place it has to be" big time.So if you are looking for TV movies with superb comedy and heart, like "Escape from Cluster Prime" and "Rugrats: All Growed Up", then "Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show" is one best example to see.
