Jakoba True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
nickyg322000 I cannot recommend this film enough! I found it streaming on Amazon Prime. I am a big fan of sexy Gerald McCullouch, and decided to give it a shot. Wow! The acting is impressive. The entire cast is terrific! The film is based on a play by Dan Via, who also has a role in the film as McCullouch's best friend. The plot revolves around the relationship between "daddy" McCullouch and a younger man played by the excellent Jaime Cepero. It is by turns humorous, touching, and realistic. This is one of the best gay movies I have seen in years! Do yourself a favor and check it out today!
kramnibur I could not believe the earlier negative reviews I read here. I found this movie so well portrayed. I am not in the situation this movie presents. but, I am a father of a child who grew up without me ever knowing of his existence until he was 20 years old. I have been trying to locate him for about 5 years. Naturally this movie peaks my interests. I enjoyed all of the performances. My heartstrings were pulled. This was a simple presentation of a complicated simply done well.
Stelios Antoniadis This was a pretty awesome film. I almost watched it twice back to back but I felt that this movie is really a treasure and I didn't want to wear it out. If you haven't seen it, please watch it. Gerald McCullouch gave such an amazing performance that I actually cried 3 times. I seriously thought I was made of sand on the inside...but this movie proved me wrong. At the end...when the drama came to light, I was so shocked. My immediate thought was "how is this actor going to pull this off" but there was so much raw emotion in that scene but Gerald McCullouch did it and he did it so well. I couldn't even imagine what he must have been feeling to do that scene. I think I cried the most at that part because not only did he just lose his lover but so much confusion and craziness to think about...It was kind of...brilliant. I had not heard of Gerald McCullouch before but he instantly became one of my new favorite actors/directors. I will watch this film again for sure.
granolen-44989 I don't want to give anything away, and do yourself a favor and stay away from reading anything that gives it away.Daddy delivers a punch right to your gut. I was expecting a lighthearted, multi-generational and light film. What you get is an emotional assault on your psyche, but in a good way.The three main characters are genuine, not cliché, and honest. I think all gay men can relate to the relationship between Colin and Stewart. What gay man doesn't have a long standing friendship that started out sexual, but you realized you were better off as friends... like Golden Girl level friends? Colin and Stewart present that dynamic so well. And they both deliver a dichotomy. Colin has this great sexuality and alpha male vibe. Stewart is adorkable and sweet. And like most gay friendships, when one begins a new relationship, the friendship experiences turbulence. And this film has some serious turbulence...Do yourself a favor and see this unique gay film.
