Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
Limerculer A waste of 90 minutes of my life
Jonah Abbott There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Art Vandelay When Hollywood turns out a movie for adults we can't all start whining that it wasn't the funniest thing we've ever seen billed as a comedy or the most moving piece of drama since The Godfather. Be thankful someone is willing to bankroll talented young filmmakers. BTW, executive producers are Ridley Scott and Tony Scott. The movie walks a fine line but remains believable. I cringed a bit. And I laughed out loud several times. The performances were fantastic. My one criticism has been stated before -- the stupid zooming in and out. Save it for a montage scene or a bridge between Act 2 and 3. But to use it throughout the entire movie? It gets old fast. Overall I wish more movies were made like this. And fewer that relied on fart jokes, acting like an idiot, and Will Ferrell.
Dominic LeRose There are times during "Cyrus" where Jonah Hill says something or looks or moves a certain way that will have you laughing your guts out. He is as nuanced as a comedian gets and is the most awkward movie character I can ever remember. John and Molly, a divorced middle aged man and a single mother played by Jogn C.Reiley and Marissa Tomei meet at a friends party and start up a small relationship. All John has to do now is meet Molly's son... Cyrus. Jonah Hill as Cyrus is a riot, a comedic invention of bold creativity by the Duplass brothers who have invented a character extremely witty and unique. "Cyrus" as a film is also exceptional, exploring an awkward and dysfunctional group of people who through their uniqueness and dysfunction blend together and solve each others problems. "Cyrus" is a just a feel good movie through and through that will have you laughing fro weeks.
Emraan Noor Fahad this is a beautiful movie..starting smoothly, the story follows through john and when he meets his dream girl molly (Marisa Tomei , which i believe is amazing & she put her character beautifully) who is perfect for her.she is the person whom he can depend on after his ex-wife leave him and then one night when he follows her outside of her house and then in the morning he meets molly's son.then what happens? a 21 year boy living with his single mom dealing with night terror and knowing his beautiful mom's getting bang by the man who has afro hair.. :p Jonah hill put the ''Cyrus'' character with his chubby little funny way.he knows what to do when the Scene comes.you can watch it,it will be worthwhile.there are some little humors which can be very enjoyable.
SnoopyStyle John (John C. Reilly) is in a rut. His ex-wife and best friend Jamie (Catherine Keener) is getting remarried after 7 years. She pushes him to go to a party and he meets the wonderful Molly (Marisa Tomei). They have terrific chemistry together. However Molly never brings her to her home and he follows her. He finds her son Cyrus (Jonah Hill) living with her. He's almost 22 or 21, a real mamma's boy and her bff. He is territorial and passive aggressive in trying to push John out. While I understand where this movie is coming from, I didn't find it at all funny. Jonah Hill is super creepy weird unlikeable, and not the fun wacky quirky. He is uncomfortable and bordering on unwatchable. He has so much buried anger and it is never allowed to be laugh at by making it wacky. It is simply a tiring thing to watch. As for the chemistry between Reilly and Tomei, it's functional. They are very charming actors and I like them. Their relationship isn't really the star of the movie. I admire the daring characterization from Jonah Hill, but I just didn't like it.
