Gatling Pictures' "Cure for Pain: The Mark Sandman Story" examines the life and work of Mark Sandman, deceased frontman of Boston "low rock" band Morphine. From his Newton, Mass., roots to his travels across America and around the globe, Sandman left an indelible imprint as one of the most distinctive musicians of his generation. Along with revisiting the "unique and sultry sound" of his music, the film explores the meaning of family through this critically praised and personally conflicted singer, songwriter and innovative instrumentalist.

Reviews

BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Fatma Suarez The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Haven Kaycee It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
Luka Planinc Ben Harper describing Morphine - perfectly. You gotta hand it to him. 90 min of Morphine overload. Reminded me of The Doors. The man had similar talk, similar music, similar acting. A poet with a mystical charisma. An original being. A genius. Real life, real experience, real music. He lived music, music lived through him. A must see for all the Morphine fans and fans of music in general. If you can, go see it on a big screen with a system. This way you can feel it like a concert. Nice, long music parts, great video inserts, colorful interviews. Nice music, nice poetry, nice people. King of cool, Mr. Sandman. And take a girl. Or you can always find one
