ClassyWas Excellent, smart action film.
Huievest Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
Adeel Hail Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
Josephina Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
Christmas-Reviewer BEWARE OF FALSE REVIEWS & REVIEWERS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW TO THEIR NAME. NOW WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THAT TELLS ME THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE MOVIE. IF ITS A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE FILM . NOW I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 200 HOLIDAY FILMS. I HAVE NO AGENDA. I AM HONESTDr. Lauren Brunell (Candace Cameron Bure) has her whole life planned out. As a third year surgery resident, she is counting on being accepted into a prestigious hospital fellowship to follow in the footsteps of her supportive father, Henry (Pine). But when those plans quickly fall apart, and Lauren is put on the wait list, she must take the only other opening available: a head doctor position in the small, remote town of Garland, Alaska. Now plot and story move along in at a brisk pace. The film has a plausible story-line but the casting sinks this from "Must See" to "Its Cute but predictable" Now while I liked the story I just had a hard time buying Candace as a Doctor. Her range of acting seems to be smiling, mugging and pouting. Her "Valley Girl Voice doesn't help either. I am not sure how old Dr Lauren is suppose to be but Candace had to be past 35 when she filmed this. This part most likely calls for a young doctor. Candace looks every bit of her 35 years which is a distraction. I am sure she was cast because of her TV Q. Now I am sure in real life she might be a nice person but she is not a very good actress. For now she should stick to situation comedies and get a better acting coach. Any first year dram student would of been better in the lead.
adoptshelterpetstoday And yet another great quality movie starring the very talented, very enjoyable Candace Cameron-Bure!........The location was very unique and outstanding: a Hallmark Christmas movie filmed in Alaska! And those Northern Lights were spectacular! (it must be awesome to see them in person.)...Although the plot was basic, it was a uniquely presented situation......Also: well-written, well-directed, all good supporting cast...no one was annoying to detract from any of it...............The only thing that did not seem right was Candace's red hair. Red hair is beautiful and the intention was probably to make her appear a little differently for effect...what ever that was supposed to be(?)... but it was not her and really not necessary. Then towards the end, it looked like the red was re-done to be deepened. It just looked kind of sleazy, especially with the over-done make-up, which was not in sync with that quiet, little town.......Anyway, as always with all of her movies, it is very respectable, safe...and TOTALLY enjoyable!
bookandcandle I really enjoy watching all the new Hallmark movies that come out each Christmas season and I never tire of the happy endings that bring joy and hope to all of us. Thank you, Hallmark, for doing that. This movie was especially enjoyable because there was no music during the talking, unless it was a climatic scene, so you could hear each word clearly. Appreciate that very much.I loved the story about a young city doctor getting used to a small town in Alaska, knowing all her patients personally and finding true love with views of the Northern Lights. Nothing could be better than that. The acting was professional, yet charismatic. They were all charming and fun to watch. This added to this memorable holiday movie. I would watch this over and over and so would my family. The ending has a magical surprise.
boblipton Candace Cameron Bure is a doctor who wants the same fellowship in Boston that her father had. When she doesn't get it, she needs a job and winds up in Alaska running through the standard Hallmark Christmas Romantic comedy tropes. If what you're looking for is those standard tropes played engagingly, you'll find them here. Miss Bure is pretty and speaks her lines well; David O'Donnell is a competent juvenile; Brian Doyle-Murray is a fine Santa-like supporting player; Kendra Mylnechuk has the best performance as a hyper-competent nurse. However, there's nothing in the script that isn't interchangeable with most of Hallmark's rote romcoms. It's so unengaging -- because you know exactly what is going to happen next -- that you have time to contemplate the production errors that make it clear that this wasn't shot in Alaska, once you get past the beautiful setting shots. Every morning Miss Bure awakens at 6:30 to a sun high in the sky in an Alaska December. The grass is bright green and you can see some weedy young maples wearing their summer leaves in town. Finally, in a town so remote that Amazon.com won't ship there, there is no trouble for the local florist (?!) to come up with a dozen perfect roses for the leading man to give to the leading lady on the spur of the moment.I begin watching these Hallmark seasonal romantic comedies intending to give them easy marks. They seem pitched at a very undemanding audience and the actors invariably try their best. However, if the people in charge can't be bothered, then why should the audience?
