Rijndri Load of rubbish!!
Dorathen Better Late Then Never
Sameer Callahan It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
Tymon Sutton The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.
annisasafanta Proclaim. I never watched Warrior.I'd like to say this movie clueless. Warrior has its own setup, and I don't think Bollywood shouldn't follow as it is, to the extent, it was bit soulless. It'd be better if there's no item dance by Bebo. The credits was given to some, 2 points for Akshay Kumar for playing it cool, bold, and really nature. 1 point for Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline, and Siddhart, even I can't give him such point.I was amazed by its studio, but in the end, it just can't help with the soul of the movie. I enjoyed the 15 minutes they gave, it's about how it started. Ah ya, I should put another point for Shefali Shah for totally immersed for being Maria.Critical comment for Siddhart, that I've been wondering what was he doing there. Maybe it won't give such effect to another audiences, but I think Siddhart really play it safe, and really not existing for entire movie. Well, can't help it, maybe he wasn't ready... To the extent I'd like to wait how Varun did it with Akshay's archenemy.Music wasn't that catchy. Story. I'd like to divide it to two major stories, first in how Fernandez's family scattered, second in how David took such decision. And to comparing which one better, it was a bit tough decision to make. Again, it is just another remake that fail to make a new system to its universe. In short, the movie was not my cup of tea (and wonder why Warrior got 8.2 rating), but to judge it fairly, it is just another soulless movie that trying to get much audiences, but it lost its own quality. It is just not Bollywood type of movie.Cheers.
tony benny First of all, let's not compare Brothers with Warrior! This film may not have done a good job on remaking Warrior but its a sure treat for those who haven't watched it.It contains emotion along with action.A few disappointing points may be that its boring in the first half, and the second half has nothing but action. But that doesn't have to be a big thing!.People have to go along with the story.Though the movie is very bloody, and keeps making sounds of bones breaking which is really exaggerated,it's still worth a watch.Jackie Shroff has played his role extremely well and so did Akshay.Sidharth din't have much of a performance to do in this film,he's like a silent guy who doesn't talk much. But he did well too! Jacqueline killed it! Some people have found this movie disappointing, but I have found it a fine remake.Well,I guess its out of theater's,so I suggest those who haven't watched it yet.Stop reading the negative comments and go for it!(I meant to download it :> Once its out In clear print,if you care about the graphics.Warning:This movie is fit only for a one-time watch.Watching it twice wont be enjoyed.
Kush Dedhia The first half is emotional and contains flashback because it has a story. People should keep patience. Director takes his time and tells the story in the first half but now in the second half its complete action. Those fights are so realistic it will give you goosebumps. The stadium ,the commentators, the crowd it looks like a real battle is on. Great stuff man. Akshay Kumar is Excellent. His acting, his body, his emotions. Just amazing. Siddharth what a transformation. That angry young man look is killer bro. Your body , your look your acting is Outstanding. Jackie is brilliant as always. Jacqueline looks beautiful as always. Kareena is a cherry on the cake. Background music is orgasmic. Its a complete roller coaster ride. Director takes his time in the first half and blasts the second half. Don't give a damn about the critics who have disliked this movie because they are just comparing it with Warrior which should not have happened. Its a Bollywood movie and you have to keep that in mind. Film could have been shortened but never the less people are loving it. That matters. Go watch and enjoy this bloody battle.
avatar007 ****POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD****The movie begins in earnest with Sidharth Malhotra, aka Monty trying to prove his mettle as an MMA fighter with winning simple street fights. It is Monty's dream to reach the big leagues of MMA at any cost. Not knowing reasons for his anger until a little while later it is revealed his father Garson Fernandes (aka Bollywood legend Jackie Shroff) has been released from prison after 2 decades inside for second degree murder. Monty is upset with his father, who even after being imprisoned remains a hapless drunk. Garson enters the house, starts rearranging furniture and hallucinating about his dead wife, Maria, the one he murdered by vicious assault (seen in flashback). In his hallucinatory fits, Garson attempts to rearrange the furniture of the apartment but Monty sets him straight, advising him that Maria is, in fact deceased. Garson whines like a drunken loser and accepts responsibility for destroying his family. Meanwhile, back in the present, Monty keeps trying to win fights but his anger is misplaced at the world in general. Garson becomes his trainer after sobering up and pines for David, his other son who has never forgiven him for the murder of his mother. In flashback we learn Monty is the son of Maria's deceased sister SARAH, with whom Garson had multiple affairs and on the day of Maria's demise, addresses her by name of SARAH. Fed up of being cheated on, Maria retaliates and Garson goes wild and slams her to the ground, causing her instant death. Garson attempts to meet David, who is still seething with rage. David is going through his own personal hell, with his only daughter suffering from a debilitating kidney disease from which she requires a transplant. David goes to the bank asking for a loan extension but gets mocked at. Vowing not to fight again, David has a change of heart, as a parent he is willing and able to sacrifice himself for his child, to the chagrin of his wife, Jenny. Meanwhile, back on the other side of town, Monty has learned that Peter Braganza a brash promoter who looks like Tom Alter has come out of the woodwork to promote the international MMA tournament called R2F, right to fight. After a series of lukewarm fights, Monty makes it to R2F and has to defeat many international fighters - the highlight being German warrior Luca, played by Australian wrestler Conan Stevens in a wordless role. David loses his job as a dedicated school teacher as the principal finds out his intentions to go back to street fighting to save his kid from imminent death. David also makes it to R2F. During one of the bouts where David is fighting the Italian Hammer, Garson intervenes from the side of the cage, and for his attitude gets a smack on his face from an angry Hammer. David's reaction to this is complete and utter sadness, even though he cannot forgive his father, there is love present in his demeanor. Anger rises within David who finishes off the Hammer with multiple deadly blows, leading him to the finals. After a series of bouts with various fighters it turns out in a stunning climax that David and Monty are the first finalists to face each other off to the death. With pleas from their father Garson to abandon the fight they go ahead anyway. In the end David has a change of heart and instead of killing Monty in the ring merely breaks his shoulder and asks him to give up the fight for the sake of reuniting their broken family. David wins the prize 9 CRORES (90 MILLION RUPEES) and the film ends as an anti-climax with the brothers reunited with love for each other. Although inspired by Hollywood film WARRIOR, the comparisons are very far and few between. Akshay Kumar has led the way showing that even though he is Bollywood's Martial Arts Guru, the real person underneath is one of compassion and ultimately forgiveness. A great film. I give it 9/10.
