Perry Kate Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Verity Robins Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
willkl The 2 star rating is for stunning Iceland as a backdrop, even if we've seen it all before (Stiller's 'Walter Mitty', among others). And like the temperature much of the year round in Iceland, a sub-zero rating for the horrendously amateur 'performances'. A good, if borrowed idea, wasted on way too many protracted shots of the blonde (I expect she's related to the filmmakers or writers, given the amount of screen time she gets) and the supposed meaning of life, or the possible intervention of something more mysterious.Throw in some terrible, flat, lifeless and predictable dialogue, the lack of any sense that this couple really did find themselves suddenly alone in the world (racing around an empty supermarket on a trolley, then filling it to overflowing with 'free' stuff off the shelves??) and more. I hung on only to see how it ended, thereby wasting another 40 mins. of my life. Best avoided. Visit Iceland instead.
Rob Broekhof This movie gets a straight A (10 out of 10) because it really moved me. I was very glad that I did not took the other reviews too serious. Especially the fact that it was supposed to be a science fiction! This movie has nothing to do with science fiction. And even though the "apocalypse" is mentioned in the movie, it's not at all the main theme! The theme of this movie is Bokeh. First I thought that Bokeh is a place in Iceland, but it's not. It's the parts in photo's that are out of focus and have taken shapes that still and actually do belong to the photo just as much as what's in focus. The focus in this movie is two young people making a visit to Iceland."Bokeh" is formed by the people that were around as well, but didn't have their attention. They were focused on themselves and the beauty of Iceland. By the way, the scenery is pictured wonderfully and beautifully! That alone could be a reason to watch it. But, this is a movie that deserves patience and resilience against watching extremely difficult situations. The difficulty in this case is caused by mental and emotional challenges. Note that there's no violence at all! As soon as the "bokeh", i.e. the other people disappear those extremely difficult situations evolve slowly but surely. This movie moved me so much because it confronted me with my own loneliness, i.e. without being alone! Sometimes feeling lonely feels good. However, my challenge is not to feel painfully lonely, knowing that I am not at all alone. The challenge for the people in the movie is finding out how to deal with being ALL ALONE ... which to me might provide a new meaning to loneliness. Watch for yourself how they deal with it and learn by raising questions to yourself about what you'd feel & do.
Kieran McCabe I just this moment finished watching Bokeh on Netflix. I almost didn't get past the first 10 minutes, because I couldn't understand anything the main characters were saying. Quiet voices, largely drowned out by slightly louder music. Plus several scenes where a (hard to make out) conversation was being overlaid on top of different scenes, where the characters were apparently talking to each other. It looked for all the world like the worst dubbing job in the history of cinema. But I did finish the film and gave it seven stars. Why?PRO TIP: -- I turned on the subtitles. The beauty of the light and the gorgeous Icelandic scenery really drew me in. And the music I was so busy complaining about above was often mesmerising. As for the story, it reminded me The Quiet Earth. A better film based on a much better book, but one not nearly as beautiful as Bokeh.I watched Bokeh in a kind of daze. It's a lush diversion.
isabobella Some viewers have been generous in the description of this movie, labeling as "existentialist", "intellectual", "original/imaginative" and even a "masterpiece"... I'd say those viewers are easily amused by pretentious mediocrity labelled as "art".Bokeh drives home 3 (and only 3) concepts successfully;1. Cinematography: High praise to the Reykjavik Tourism Board and the filmmakers for capturing the most beautiful and remote locations in Iceland...Some might say that the film tries so frantically to capture them all that it comes across as a 1/5 hour advertorial... some might say.2. Highlights that in your 20's (and mainly in this day and age) you are UNFIT to choose a MATE that reflects who you are! Jenai and Riley were so ideologically and morally different, and they had such different expectations out of life that it was never going to work out in the long term, in the real world, much less likely in a post-apocalyptic wonderland.3. REALLY drives home the concept that LOVE, on it's own, is simply not enough! People need individual space to pursue their interests and technology to support (and reflect) their lifestyles. Some people more than others...I must admit some of the dialogue was so annoying and overtly pretentious that I just had to fast forward through the endless diatribes and pseudo-intellectual "banter", mainly by Jenai, who was overtly emotional and utterly insignificant and helpless... This brings me to the biggest mistake this movie made; portray the female lead as this sanctimonious, unstable, weak, emotional, boring and empty stereotype of a vessel, which I wouldn't want to associate with MUCH LESS identify with!!! REALLY Geoffrey Orthwein and Andrew Sullivan?! Is that the best female lead you can conjure up?!!!
