InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Dark_Lord_Mark Not much can be said beyond my headline. It's a very fun, sexy, funny, sometimes scary horror. It is well acted and uses barely any special effects. It's a refreshing horror, that has funny moments, and manly moments and is not cliched. The movie is what the title said, a Boar which is killing. It's well shot and well acted. Even the music is pretty good. Their is even a famous song that is played on the radio from a famous rapper 20=5 years ago, "baby, if you know what I'm saying."Highly recommended for horror lovers! 9.5 out of 10!
bnhhurle BOAR is a great Australian movie : its a CREATURE FEATURE folks - not GHANDI or SHINDLERS LIST... The Australian film industry is now near non-existent.. And Chris SUN is leading the charge in Australia to produce SOMETHING!!! And that is a great thing. Its easy to sit back and critique ... try and make a damn movie.. especially in Australia where film funding is a brown-paper-bag of non existent cash for projects.. The legendary films of Australia from the 80s (Mad Max, etc) are not being made here now.... sad... Horror films here ( Im Australian , living in Australia ;) are in SHORT supply ... America turns out some good stuff - but alot of crap too..BOAR is a GREAT movie given the cinematic climate it is being made in.. Ignore the negative reivews : people are entitled to opinions - but Australian horror is a RARE thing and Chris is delivering a good product.. ( I dont know Chris , and am not affiliated in any way - Im just an Aussie Horror fan) Now to the film...Contrary to other opinions - I think the acting is good (ive seen a LOT of Horror movies and seen outrageously worse acting... Pick any Troma film you like.. and i LOVE Troma..The film has a great number of legendary Aussie actors (John Jarrett, Roger Ward, Steve Bisley, Chris Heyward ) legends all of them and they all do what i would expect of them and delighted in watching them .. I mean Roger Ward : Mad Max and Turkey Shoot!!! Excellent! The ladies are also great too : Simone and Melissa are much stronger in BOAR than any of their lightweight TV stuff - In BOAR could see that they actually can act. We are talking a fictional big pig and i thought Simone was great in her "tragedy" scenes.. Nathan Jones : man "get-in-the-ring" love him. and its just him no makeup - loved his contribution.. The film looks great, the sound is crisp and effective ( i only watched it at home) the locations are moody and effective - and the BOAR is great.. I mean c'mon - its a PHYSICAL creation not a complete lame ass CGI effort.. and i challenge anyone to produce a physical creature.. Given the budget and such constraints i think its as good as it could be..In closing if you want to watch a CREATURE FEATURE - BOAR is as good as any you will see - support it !!!!!!
pnkstr It was all there.... The remote Aussie outback, the typical Aussie characters, the lovable tough guy and a monster boar wreaking havoc. This movie had everything going for it...... then I watched it. Actors over acting, throwing in way too many cliches, bad CGI, and bad script. Spoilers ahead: *every character that gets developed just ends up dying and forgotten about almost immediately. *The monster boar acts in so many incomprehensible ways its like they had no idea how a boar behaves. I'm sorry but I refuse to believe that a monster wild boar would just stand there and let someone constantly stab it, or just stand there and get punched repeatedly or just stand there and roar at people. In fact either its going full speed to run someone down or just standing still. *the ending was just ridiculous. How she managed to find the survivors in the outback in the middle of the night just at the right time is beyond me. I wanted to like this movie but it really just fell apart in the end. Almost like the writers decided it was smoko time half way through and just left it at that. If you want to watch an Aussie monster movie watch ROGUE and leave this travesty in the junk pile where it belongs. SIDE NOTE: go out into the Aussie outback with your phone and see if you get a signal.... 9.9/10 you won't get any service.
russellsmll 100% one of the BEST movies I've seen, definitely in my favorites list, Everything about BOAR was epic, Chris Sun has once again delivered a great story, great direction & great cast, I love the Charlie's Farm reference (another awesome Chris Sun movie). Cant wait to see more from Chris in the future, he is definitely leading the way in Australian film
