Jonah Abbott There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Fatma Suarez The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
Curt Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
cathylr Without giving spoilers, the story in itself is rather simple: it is about a mother worried about how she will manage her daughter´s education all by herself. She therefore becomes overprotective and resorts to technology to follow her everyday activity. The acting is good, the direction is excellent as it really leaves the suspense of knowing whether the daughter actually needs to be kept under protection. The end is a very good lesson to learn for any parent who would want to know a bit too much about their children.
scottfreckle I'm only a little way in to this episode, maybe it wont bother anyone else but it's irritating me that when the girl goes from being little to maybe around 11 or so, she apparently changes from being right handed to left handed, that's a careless mistake to me.
MartinHafer What I enjoy about "Black Mirror" is that many of the episodes look at modern technology and anticipate their potential abuses and down-sides. In this case, the notion of being a helicopter parent is taken to an amazing level...thanks to tracking software and iPad-like devices. The story begins with a baby being born and all seems well. But when the little girl later walks off and the mom is panicked, she picks an unusual way to protect her child...she has a chip installed in her called 'Arkangel' and it tracks her. But the chip can do much more. It can actually filter out negative images and content...and the mother decides to use this as well. So, instead of seeing blood and violence and bad behavior, the child just sees pixilated images and cannot hear the awfulness. Sounds like a great idea, huh? Well...as the child grows, it's like having NSA inside her head...and the repercussions are awful. The most interesting thing about this story is that it was directed by Jodie Foster (yes, THAT Jodie Foster). This, along with some impressive location shoots in ensuing episodes shows that this show has found an audience! As for this particular episode, while it's not among the best, it is quite disturbing and well made....and well worth your time.
tahitiblkpearl If you've ever experienced the terror that goes thru your body when you think your child is missing, this episode starts with that. The steps the mother takes to prevent that from happening again, which we are already there with rfid for animals- is truthful. Except in Black Mirror fashion, it takes it to the extreme.
