Steineded How sad is this?
Teringer An Exercise In Nonsense
Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
IncaWelCar In truth, any opportunity to see the film on the big screen is welcome.
2cool 2touch So the movie should be rated 5 but I am giving it another grace point because it has a better screenplay then Ranbir's last YJHD. Although this movie has its fair share of goofs n where u r made like.. com'on ... but at least they are done in a way where they want you to know its deliberate and not shown as a matter for fact.I was going to avoid it, I avoided it for a bit, but then I saw it last night and I had few good laughs. The movie wasn't a drag. Don't see the trailer if you want to enjoy even more...If you are an Indian movie follower, I can bet you you have seen much worst recently under bigger names so don't be afraid and give it a shot. I hope you will enjoy
gunmasterg9 I can't understand how this has had so many negative reviews. The So Called blockbuster Chennai 'stupid' express got raving reviews. Ranbir Kapoor is brilliant as always, he shows that he is a complete actor adding to his existing credentials Rockstar, Barfi etc. Its an out an out entertainer, Ranbir Kapoor's on screen chemistry with his parents, Rishi & Neetu Kapoor is brilliant, who in their own individual scenes are more funny the whole movie 'chennai express'. Love the way Ranbir Kapoor getting Amithabh Bachchan's styling from the 80s as they show he is a huge fan in this movie, such as the brown leather jacket or shirts with a belt over the top. The music is all loud and entertaining, Lalit (of Jatin-Lalit ) tries to give a few typical Rishi kapoor type songs from the 70S & 80S . Average story but it keep you entertained and that is All this is about ENTERTAINMENT !!!
bobbysing To begin with, it is the most disappointing film of Ranbir Kapoor till date, pulling him down to that routine level of big stars who are very much afraid of trying something new and therefore keep playing safe serving the same old wine to their loyal viewers every year.Actually films like BESHARAM become possible or get made only because of the confidence acquired by their makers due to the stupendous success achieved by their previous project. In this case, it's director Abhinav Kashyap and his famous venture DABANGG featuring Salman Khan. Now just try to figure out, that what kind of a lesson, the director would have learned from such a huge success of his first project. Obviously the lesson has to be that here in India; we don't need a story, screenplay or any novel idea to make a film on. But all we need is A Big Star to say yes and the rest gets arranged quite easily. That was the exact idea with which DABANGG was made and that is again the rule followed by Abhinav in his second venture called BESHARAM.Hence please don't look for any solid story idea here or anything exceptional in execution as clearly declared by the title of the film being BESHARAM. The film damn cares about any story progression in its first half and is only interested in giving you some cool (irregular) entertaining sequences entirely written around Ranbir Kapoor alone. The so called plot is revealed just before the intermission and by the time its pretty clear that this is nothing but just another film made to en- cash the star value associated with an actor, by fooling the audience as usual. 3 songs each in both the halves ruin the pace further and the film drops badly post intermission only to recover in its last 30 minutes with a partially enjoyable climax. And that in fact is the only saving grace of the project, wherein both Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh jump in to rescue their Star child from a badly conceived film all together.Putting it simply, this is the first time I found a bit of over- confidence as well as over-acting in Ranbir Kapoor's carefree portrayal of a spoilt brat. He looks like overdoing the act, far away of being natural in many of his scenes and that was indeed a very painful sight for me as a viewer, who rates Ranbir Kapoor as a blessed exceptional actor with a vision. Plus, the film's second half has many weird, illogical scenes which certainly make you wonder that who actually directed this. Like the silly chase sequence, where the goons are firing rocket launchers at people's homes in Chandigarh's local residential lanes & more. However, the moment Rishi-Neetu join in, they start providing those much required enjoyable (yet deliberate) moments in the end and try hard to save the film from sinking with their sincere efforts. The inconsistent writing affecting the film from its first frame itself is accompanied by some feeble performances too led by the wrong casting of Pallavi Sharda in the female lead. The girl is no doubt confident and good looking too but honestly there is no chemistry to be found in the screen pair here. Moreover casting Pallavi in this role clearly proves the point that the makers strongly believe in the theory that when A Star is there in your film, then you don't even need a well known face to feature in it as his heroine. Javed Jaafri looks good as the tough villain and Amitosh Nagpal just fills in the space as Ranbir's friend. But sadly, I didn't get what I was expecting from the real-life couple Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh playing the corrupt police officers together. Their act is very fine at times but also looks forced in and too loud in some scenes mainly due to the unimpressive writing. Yet it was truly great to see Neetu Singh in such an unconventional role like never before and I can only wish the couple was given some better scenes together by the makers. No doubt this was a golden opportunity wasted here unarguably.Apart from the unconvincing performances, BESHARAM also has a routine background score and a very mediocre kind of soundtrack, which one simply forgets while walking out of the theater. Now we all know that Ranbir is a brilliant dancer. But even a fabulous dancer needs good beats and catchy compositions to perform better which are not there in its seven tracks, composed by Lalit Pandit. Further, the cinematography fails to impress majorly since the art director makes a very fake looking Punjabi Mohalla set in the first half and the action director hasn't got anything new to offer in his fights.Returning to the major spotlight of BESHARAM i.e. Ranbir Kapoor, it seems that the once visionary actor of WAKE UP SID, ROCKET SINGH, ROCKSTAR, BARFI & more, has lately made up his mind to make some quick loads of money instead of supporting good films and lost his creative vision in this wicked rat race. With a hope that he soon gets back on track with another gem of a film, I would like to conclude that there was only one dialogue in BESHARAM which could impress me, worthy of taking back home in those 2+ hours as a valuable life teaching lesson. And it was that, "Life gives you back in reverse, what you give to others. So if you do "Bhala" it returns back to you becoming "Laabh" (if studied in reverse in Hindi) and similarly if you do "Daya", it comes back to you as "Yaad", since the person always remembers you for the help given. But other than this one precious line, I found nothing in BESHARAM quite shamefully.
superindrajit After the success of critically and commercially successful Barfi(2012) and the blockbuster Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani(2013), Ranbir Kapoor returns with the much hyped Besharam. The film was hyped up mainly because it had Ranbir Kapoor and it was the return of Abhinav Kashyap(the director of Dabangg). Kashyap probably though that an action comedy with the new superstar Ranbir would give him a 100 crore hit. However, that doesn't seem possible because the film has completely nose dived after a 20 crore start on Wednesday.Besharam is the story of a car thief who steals car for a living, he donates more than half of his money to the orphanage he was raised in. He is a very shameless person and you can see this based on the amount of Besharami in him. The film has so much slapstick humour and it tries really hard to make you laugh but it only succeeds partially. The love story between Babli and Tara is poorly handled, there is no chemistry between the lead pair. It is hard to digest the fact that a qualified and stubborn girl falls for a shameless boy because he helps her get her car back(the same one he stole from her). The only thing that works to an extent is the action scenes and the clash between Chandel and Babli. The end is predictable with an ending which is very similar to Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani(a much better film of Ranbir Kapoor).Direction by Abhinav Kashyap is bad, this movies pales in front of Dabangg(2010) which wasn't novel but well handled and clap worthy. The initial scenes are good but the film's pace drops, there are too many songs in the first half, and there are many comedy scenes in the first half which fail to make you laugh. The biggest problem is the weak humour which fails to make you laugh in many parts. The scene where Ranbir takes his friend's socks out of his pants is just crude and the scene where he takes a bath is meant to make you laugh but it just doesn't work, it's silly, not funny.Music is OK but there are way too many songs. The title song is the best while the song at the random wedding is average, the song in the car when they are going to Chandigarh is good while the rest are just fillers. However, the songs aren't placed properly.Ranbir Kapoor is good but this genre doesn't suit him. He was much better in YJHD(2013) and most of his previous films. He does make you laugh in places and his expressions are good but this act is average compared to his natural charismatic act in YJHD and Barfi. Pallavi Sharda does a good job as a debutant, she does act like a stubborn girl but the chemistry between her and Ranbir isn't good, it's just weak. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor do a decent job though some of their dialogs are crude and the toilet scenes of Rishi Kapoor are just silly and crude. This is the first time the Kapoor parents and their son Ranbir comes together but they fail to successfully steal the hearts of the audience. Javed Jaffery for once acts well and does well as the villain. The rest of the supporting cast has acted well.On the whole, Besharam is another bad film which fails to succeed as an action comedy. Watch this film only for Ranbir's acting and the songs, and the heroine's acting. The film is a big disappointment and it probably won't do well at the box office, it might recover it's 60 crores cost. This means the film can be an average grosser at it's best.
