bensonmum2 If you saw Danny Trejo play Frank Vega in the first Bad Ass, then you probably know what to expect from Bad Ass 2: Bad Asses. While I don't think it's quite as good overall, this one is funnier. Trejo is joined by Danny Glover. Together, they make a mean, geriatric, fighting machine. Just the sight of these two guys together is enough to bring a smile to my face - Trejo in his now familiar blue t-shirt, cameo jacket, khaki shorts, and white tennis shoes and socks with Glover wearing a yellow t-shirt, green Adidas track suite, white tennis shoes, and rainbow headband. And they play off each other nicely, constantly making fun of the other's age and medical conditions. A plus for Bad Ass 2 is Andrew Divoff as chief baddie Leandro Herrera. Divoff always plays a fantastic heavy. Yeah, fight choreography is a bit weak, special effects are pretty bad, and there are moments that defy belief (a grenade nonchalantly thrown from a car into a helicopter), but it's all done in with a sense of humor.In this one, Vega is helping young men get off the streets by teaching them to box. One of his prize boxers, however, gets mixed up with some drug dealers and gets himself killed. With the help of his reluctant friend, Bernie, Vega sets out to avenge the young man's death and clean up the streets.I realize Bad Ass 2 isn't a "good" movie by most people's standards. But if you don't take it too seriously, it's not half bad.

Dark Jedi The original Bad Ass was not really a bad movie. Not great but enjoyable. So I thought it would be worthwhile to watch the second one as well. Danny Trejo and Danny Glover certainly sounded like it could be a fun combination. Unfortunately this movie was a bit of a disappointment.The movie felt tired a lot of the time. Danny Trejo was not bad but Danny Glover never really felt like a bad ass and his fart jokes was definitely more bad taste than bad ass.The story was fairly whimsical and unintelligent. Some things were just poorly done. Like for instance Frank blowing up a chopper by throwing a hand grenade at it from a car. It was so poorly done that I just sat there thinking what the f…? And then on the end where they kill (of course) the main bad guy and Bernie claims that there he got his liver and that they should put the guy on ice. It actually looks like whoever wrote that crap actually believed in it as well since the final scenes implies that Bernie got his liver transplant. What kind of an idiot writes something like that. Heard about transplant compatibility requirements? Oh, and that nonsense with the ice-pick. If you get an icepick showed all the way into your head through your eye you most likely die. You do not walk around the next day with nothing but an eye patch.Then we have this diplomatic immunity crap. It really doesn't work that simple. You might get away with a few speeding tickets but you cannot go on a crime spree and expect not to be expelled at least. That stuff might have been okay in Lethal Weapon but now it is really just dumb.On the whole I have to say that I was rather disappointed with this movie. The first one was better and that one was enjoyable but not great to begin with. There are some fun moments, some decent fighting and so on so it is not a total turkey but disappointing nonetheless.

Wizard-8 I enjoyed the original "Bad Ass" movie, so I looked forward to this sequel when I heard about its release. I had to search for it in several video stores in my city, but I eventually found it. Was it worth the wait? Overall, I would say yes. The sequel has the good idea of giving the lead character an equally old and grumpy partner, and the two Dannys (Trejo and Glover) playing the leads manage to generate some great chemistry. It also helps that their characters have been written to be very likable not just together, but apart. The movie has generally good production values and moves from scene to scene fairly quickly, so there are no boring parts. Don't get me wrong, this movie is not perfect. The movie cheapens out at one point by extensively using footage from the 1990 movie "Narrow Margin". Also, the movie's mix of yuk-yuk comedy with hard violence does give the movie an inconsistent (and weird) feeling at times. Fortunately, there's more good stuff than disappointing material here. So if you liked the first movie, chances are you'll like this sequel.

Jesse Boland You might not remember a little movie from the summer of 2012 called Bad Ass, but think back just a bit, and it will come to you. Danny Trejo was on the bus minding his own business after another long day slinging hot dogs on the street when these hoods started making trouble, and thought that he was just another old guy they could push around. You remember now, they were very wrong, and this all led to our BA taking on the gangs, and bringing justice to the streets. Well here we are in 2014, and just a few weeks ago I can remember thinking "I wonder what Danny Glover is up to?" then this nice little surprise drops into my lap. The action hero who was "gettin to old for this" 30 years ago is back to provide just the right level of support both physically, and comically. This is a decent movie that has been filmed well, and is built on a great foundation however fantastical it may be. I can recommend this to anyone, and feel good doing so. You have the fantastic new team up of Trejo, and Glover who are so good at being old, then just as good at swinging with the best of them a moment later. You have a decent story that is family friendly(if you have a pretty tough family), a bit of language and though there is killing it is not done in a flashy gory way, there is a lot of good hearted humour in there too, so give this piece a chance.
