Cleveronix A different way of telling a story
Derry Herrera Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
Mihai Toma When the boy of a very wealthy businessman, who wasn't interested in his father's job, meets and falls for a lovely woman, they buy a house and start to live their lives as ordinary people, but his father's influence will change their lives much sooner than anyone would expect. Haunted by his past, his life, especially along his beloved, will prove to be a difficult one, often making him to make radical decisions. We follow the relation of the two, along with its troubles until her mysterious disappearance and the trial that follows many years later. It's a movie inspired by real life events which seems to be like a biography of David Marks, presenting in detail his disturbed life and the events which result from his decisions. It's plot, although quite predictable and somewhat linear, even for somebody who doesn't have any idea about the real events on which it's based, can be "seen" from two distinct points of view. You either take it as a biography, which has to present the events as close as it can to the reality, fact which I believe it does really good, or as a normal movie which presents a strange but predictable course of events which ultimately aren't able to captivate the viewer. It does have good actors and some interesting characters, even an unique way of telling its story, alternating events and inserting pieces of David's trial, but it doesn't manage to keep the viewer's interest. You don't get to care about the characters, you're simply a spectator to a couple of events, which you kind of guess before they happen, thus the result is not satisfying at all. The characters also have tendency to make radical decisions which decisively affect the outcome of the story, but not in a good way. Towards the end, it even becomes awkward, making you wonder why you're still watching. It simply isn't a good watch, to put it simple.Overall, I have to say that I was disappointed with this movie, due to its very slow pace, lack of generated interest, but ultimately its predictability. It simply isn't ok to watch a movie where you know the answer to all the key moments, especially when you're not affected one bit by the fate of the characters. It just isn't able to attract the viewer and make him enjoy the time he watches.
Svitlana Although this movie starts off quite slow, it really builds suspense and intrigue all throughout. What I like about this film is that it sources on realism. The relationship between the two protagonists is in no way glamorized, as most Hollywood films do, but instead it shows something more raw. At first it seems that there is no real depth to Katherine's and David's relationship but as you keep watching you realize that the depiction of their marriage - lacking any deep and meaningful personal connection - mirrors David's character. Out of the two protagonists, David's character is the hardest to understand. What this film does well is keep his backstory to the minimum, but towards the end the little details that were revealed about his childhood, such as the death of his mother, all come into place. Another aspect of this film that adds to the overall effect is the use of flashbacks, from the courtroom where David is being questioned, to the actual events beginning in 1973 and on wards. Overall, this is simply a wonderful movie. It captured all the necessary aspects to recreate the true events that occurred surrounding David Marks and his trial. Without a doubt, watch this movie now. Especially if you're a lover of murder mysteries like myself.
Geeky Randy Chronicles Gosling, son of wealthy New York real estate tycoon Langelia, who is linked to a series of murders. Great performances by all, but Dunst's brilliance brings a suiting yet odd romance to this crime-drama as the central character's wife. Loosely based on the life of accused murderer Robert Durst, but if you caught THE JINX (also by Andrew Jarecki), you'll know that the events are more authentic than most "based on"s. What makes the film so great is that it refuses to structure itself in a conventional manner and allows things to unravel in a very gradual, strange, and realistic manner. Its downfall is too much focus on the early life of Gosling's character, giving it a fatal uneven vibe.*** (out of four)
Charlton Alonso Charlton Alonso played the role of Young Daniel. Too cute! Trying to link the IMDb for him... He did not receive credit for the role. He played the brother of Young David. Young David was played by Tristan Comeau. Tristan did receive credit for the role. The boys were in the scene of the birthday party flashback. Charlton is getting on a horse and shooting his mom with a fake gun. He is also playing tennis and swimming in a pool with his brother and mother. He is seen as the only actor on the screen for parts of the flashback. He was also linked to the IMDb page for the movie. Charlton did not receive any credit at the end of the movie. However, would it be possible to please link him now for credit on his IMDb page. He has established film credits already and would be so appreciative if he could get linked to the movie's IMDb page. Thank you so much!!!
