Far outside what's normally taught as "history", this 6-hour documentary attempts to explain what's normally glossed over - Germany's actions prior to WWII, Hitler's popularity, the support of the Nazis by the Germans, the basis for hardline Nazi stances against Jews, and why Nazism was such a danger to the established world powers. It chronicles the German WWI defeat, communist attempts to take over Germany; hyperinflation during the Weimar Republic, widespread unemployment and misery that served as the foundation of Nazi principles, and Hitler’s amazing rise to power. It also reveals a personal side of Hitler: his family background, his artwork and struggles, and what motivated him to pursue a career in politics. While open to criticism for being "pro-Nazi" in its perspectives, the documentary does present many factual foundations for those perspectives, highlighting an endless list of hypocrisies and double-standards imposed on Germany in the years before, during, and after WWII.

Intcatinfo A Masterpiece!
AnhartLinkin This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
Usamah Harvey The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
videospoon Dennis Wise (NOT his real name) has made a career out of lying and inciting people against Americans and specifically Jews. A German by birth (the name is fake to appeal to american audiences) he made up an entire page in History that his personal fantasy of exoneration the German nation from its atrocities in WW 2, I believe that that is his motive since the S**T stain that this era left on human History is something that bothers him so he chose 1. To disrespect all the GIs who died fighting a Scumbag (Hitler) in WW 2 2. Making the German Horrors insipid as in trivializing them 3. Feeding the american public lies and fantasies that in the current climate of lies and distortions finds a home in the hearts of "Certain Americans"...This collection of well composed lies, forgeries and alteration are dangerous. He should be deported or arrested since these DVDs have nothing to do with free speech and are a tool for White Nationalists to drive the USA to the bottom of the world. A collection of incitements and lies! This is why we are going down to hell, letting this big mouth exist.
Tanya There were always things I didn't quite understand about WW2 and Hitler. But after watching TGSNT, it's like puzzle pieces coming together. I used to immediately have fear responses whenever I saw pictures of Hitler/NatSocs, but that changed. So many myths dispelled. The horrifying realization that our world is declining because evil won. It was so overwhelming that I had to take a few days off of work, as it was all I could think about. I felt like I was in a daze. To avoid giving away spoilers or repeating what others have said, I'll give some personal background as to how post-WW2 propaganda has affected my life. My family includes people from both allied and axis European countries. Growing up, there were family conflicts that stemmed from WW2 propaganda. Ideas like such-and-such relatives were "on the bad side" in the war, terms like "War OPponent" used. To give you an idea, when I was little I made a picture of dolls, unknowingly using the axis-country's flag colors for their clothes. My allied-country relative rebuked me for those color choices and told me to "fix it or you'll look (insert axis background)". Any time I took an interest in anything to do with that country, I got in trouble. I learned to hate (half) of my background/myself, and deny that part of me.Thanks to this documentary and similar videos, the old dark clouds of shame I felt about having axis-country ancestry floated away. One of the most unexpected things was to hear from Mr. Hitler himself, that my Axis ancestral country was listed as one of many that heroically fought communists, mentioned in one of his speeches. No one (anti-White or pro-White) seems to ever mention Italy/Sicily in a positive light, but for once, someone did. Never in my life had I expected Hitler to (indirectly) tell me it's okay to have axis-country ancestry. It's like a therapist telling an abuse victim that they really do have value. Now if only I could find a documentary that would dispel myths about Mussolini. Wikipedia claims things like Mussolini treated Sicilians worse than jews, but I have no idea which sources can be trusted. For sure, TGSNT showed me that the mainstream narrative cannot be trusted. Despite my long review, I cannot put into words how much this documentary has put right the disturbing myths that I was taught. God bless Dennis Wise for his superb work - the world needs more people like him.
bandito There is truth in it. but also goes too pro hitler. yes, after ww1 , german were abuse by Versaille treaty and that was a reason for germany upraising. also that other nations are not less evil(english colonialism, usa indian extermination , etc..). But too put hitler as a sort of good guy and savior, thats bs. Nationalism in any countries lead to racism and violence. dont forget behind the world political curtains are the wolfs and we are the sheeps, that power and money easily corrupt. sorry for been on cynical side, but political and historical truth is often edited to eliminate opinions and facts against current power holders: industies/banks/old money families/ militaries/investors/ power grabbers.
giesen_public Wow. I have given other movies nine or ten stars before. If those were worthy of such ratings, this movie is worthy of much, much more. Surely, The Godfather and The Lord of the Rings trilogy were great movies. Without question, the production quality of each is far greater then that which went into this movie. However, no other movie AFFECTED me as this one did. None came close. I am an independent thinker who questions everything. As such, I don't take everything in this movie as unquestionable truth -- but there are facts supported by documentation. I am reasonably sure much of what is shown without supporting evidence can be verified by research. Why? Because so much of it either fills in blanks in the narrative with which we're all familiar -- or flatly refutes it in instances where the narrative never did make sense. (For example, why did Jesse Owens write favorably in his autobiography of Hitler's reaction to him at the 1936 Olympics if Hitler was such a racist? Why did Hitler have 40 generals, including a couple of field marshals, who were of Jewish descent? Why did Hitler NOT invade Britain when he could easily have, choosing instead to offer numerous olive branches? Why did Churchill not accept any of those olive branches? WHY was Hitler SO popular with his people? So, so much more...) In watching a recent television series about the post-WWII escape of Hitler and other NAZI's from Germany, it was discovered that the Catholic church aided in their slipping out of Europe. Why would they do that? It's often said that there are two sides to every story and that the truth lies somewhere in between. Strangely -- and ultimately sadly almost beyond comprehension -- this story rings true far more than the one that's been echoed across our history textbooks, in that it is more coherent. The old narrative simply explains away the inconsistencies with claims of Hitler's "madness" and "evil." I know not, yet, how much we've been lied to, but lied to we have been. A lot. I intend to follow this up with more independent research -- something I recommend to all to whom the TRUTH matters. The truth SHOULD matter to all, for only in knowing it do we have any hope whatsoever of avoiding repeats of the human catastrophes that are communism and perpetual wars encouraged by the bankers who truly become filthy rich off of lending money to nations to build, deplete, and rebuild massive war machines. This is a genuine eye-opener. It should be required viewing in core curricula at all institutes of higher learning.
