Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
OllieSuave-007 Hong Kong pop singer George Lam stars as a Dracula-like Vampire named Duke Lee who falls in love Anna (Rosamund Kwan) while in the mist of renouncing his vampire-sucking ways because the thought of biting humans does not appeal to him. It's not the conventional ghost comedy or horror movies you've come to expect from Hong Kong, as the plot is set in England and the entire atmosphere give you a Transylvania/European feel. There is some excitement when Anna's brother, dying triad boss Fung (Norman Chu), becomes Duke's nemesis due to him needing blood himself to survive, making himself possess vampire traits. Caught in the mix is the ever so lovable Pak Lam Cheng, who portrays The Kid in the film.Good potential for an interesting film, but it suffers from slow plot pacing and drawn-out scenes, but makes the story boring at times.Grade C
fertilecelluloid Extremely odd, conservative vampire film starring famous Hong Kong singer/actor George Lam and Rosamund Kwan as the woman he fails in love with. Lam's vampire is an untraditional fellow who does not survive by attacking the living and drinking their blood. When he is forced to do that, he picks a victim and his life changes. "Bite of Love" is more of a love story than a horror story. If it's a horror story at all, it's a slight one, but it does play with genre conventions and confronts some weathered stereotypes. There are a couple of good action scenes with a Hammer influence and an impressive climax. It is difficult to figure who the audience for this film is. It's too silly to be taken as a serious love story and too coy to pass for horror. Its themes of confronting life changes, falling in love, and acknowledging one's true nature provide some food for thought. It's light and fluffy stuff, but nothing to rave about.
NerdofHorror A horrible movie, just awfull. Can even imagine that someone can find entertainment in this crap. The movie is about a Dracula kind of character which is totally misunderstood. This characer can't look at the sun, like the standard vampire, but i he wears sunglasses it's all fine. Through the whole movie he can look at electric light, but in one scene he get's alot of this light pointed against him and then he falls apart. The usual vampire can handle any light as long as it's not the sun. When he drinks blood he get's superpowers. It dosen't matter how much. Even a drop can easily do it. And when he get's theese superpowers he can break down almost everything! Like Superman! This is just some of the many, many, many flaws in this crappy horrible film! Wish i could vote 0 for this one, but i guess 1 will do.0/10
