Reviews

Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Ginger Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Kimball Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Python Hyena 21 and Over (2013): Dir: Jon Lucas, Scott Moore / Cast: Miles Teller, Skylar Astin, Justin Chon, Sarah Wright, Francois Chau: Teen comedy about that entry in life where the forbidden seems accessible without consequence. It doesn't match The Hangover in clever storytelling nor Superbad in characters many can relate to. It does present the idea of friends, with all their good intentions, get us into tremendous trouble. It stars Miles Teller and Skylar Astin as a couple friends who desire to take their Asian friend, played by Justin Chon out for his 21st birthday but Chon is under pressure due to his strict father and a job interview the next morning that his father arranged. Structure is basically a series of events where Teller and Astin struggle to find Chon's dorm. Chon is drunk to the point of having to be carried about. The rest of the evening consists of being pursued by Latino women after a dorm spanking incident. A group of jocks desire to beat the crap out of them after a bad dart incident. We have a stampeding Bison at a bomb fire that should never be attempted at home. The ending is problematic in its dealing with Chon's father. Acting is fine with Teller as the immature one who dropped out of college, and Astin as the guy trying to make something of himself but hauled in by Teller's influence. Chon is hilarious in a role where he is barely conscious. Sarah Wright as potential Astin love interest Nicole has the personality of a beer mug. Francois Chau as Chon's overbearing father is a total waste and unfortunately the bunt of applauded disobedience. Some viewers may relate while others may mature to The Hangover. Score: 6 ½ / 10
joetominey321 I found it was a good comedy with a good story about friends growing apart and enjoying your youth. The film may be not be for everyone as some of the humour is quite crude and at times rather silly but compared to other comedies about young adults I found it refreshing showing the reality of young adults drinking and taking part in anti-social behaviour. Tss5078 21 & Over is the directorial debut from the writers of the Hangover trilogy, and it could have easily been called The Hangover Jr. It's Jeff Chang's 21st birthday and his High School friends show up to take him out. With a big interview in the morning, the boys are planning on taking it easy, but things don't quite turn out that way. I was expecting this film to be yet another chance to exploit the magic of the first Hangover film, but surprisingly it does not. The story has many similarities, but also a uniqueness about it. 21 & Over does manage to capture that amazing chemistry and magic that made the Hangover legendary. The whole time I was watching this film, I couldn't help but think, why didn't they put this kind of thought into the Hangover sequels? Don't get me wrong, I liked the sequels, but neither one of this is as good as this film was. Justin Chon, unfortunately only known from the Twilight series, stars in a role that was seemingly made for him. This guy was so freaking funny, that I had to be careful not to wet my pants, almost every time he opened his mouth. The other stand out is Project X's Miles Teller, and while he's much better looking than Alan, he does manage to capture that lovable extreme weirdness that Zack Galifinakis had. It's easy to look at 21 & Over and say it's going to be just like the Hangover, and you wouldn't be wrong. Parts of the film are eerily similar, but the youth factor and college atmosphere does give the film a life of it's own and trust me when I tell you, it was absolutely hysterical.
leonblackwood Review: I really didn't enjoy this teenage version of the Hangover, because the acting was terrible, the storyline was ridiculous and it SO unrealistic. The whole teenagers at college thing becomes boring and its nothing that we haven't seen before in movies like American Pie. There obviously left it open for a sequel, which I won't be rushing to see, but judging by the money that it made, I'm sure that they will be laughing all the way to the bank. The casting was appalling and it just seemed like someone has taken lines from every teenager movie. On the plus side, its not long and there are a couple of scenes that were slightly funny. Disappointing!Round-Up: I really can't relate to this teenage at college movies, because they seem so over the top. If this is what happen when you go to college in America then I really don't know how any gets on with any work. Anyway, its definitely not in the league of the original Hangover but it looked fun to make. You have the geek, the wild one and the drunk Chinaman which gets out of hand. Sounds Familiar? Loads of drinking games and parties, which you wish that you was at, but that's about it. Nothing really original.Budget: $13million Worldwide Gross: $42millionI recommend this movie to people who are into there teenage college movies with a concept just like the Hangover. 2/10
