Synopsis

Hundreds of years from now, the last surviving humans discover the means of sending consciousness back through time, directly into people in the 21st century. juddynz I'm astounded that so many people gave this show anything over 6/10. It was a promising idea but it went nowhere. They kept going on about missions and saving the world but they didn't actually do much. What missions? The show seemed to be more about their personal lives which I found boring in the extreme. Anything they did do seemed really pointless and I just didn't see how it related to anything else. Towards the end of Season One, it was more about travelers fighting travelers. I just didn't get it. I found the characters one-dimensional and didn't give a damn about any of them. I fast-forwarded through the second half of series one, hoping it would become interesting but it didn't. I won't bother with the rest of the series. There are way better things out there to watch.
foghorn_clj A tv series about people travelling backwards in time from the future. It's been done... With varying levels of success. Continuum? Good. 12 Monkeys? Terrible.Fortunately for Travelers "the mission" isn't the entirety of the show. It also helps that it's not framed as a giant conspiracy by a shadow organisation the protagonists have to fight against. There's deeper character development and relationships that make you care about what happens to these people.Firstly I have to give props to Eric McCormack here. To be able to shake off Will Truman and be able to deliver a completely different, well-rounded character in McLaren is impressive..Secondly there's some pretty impressive young actors in this that aren't completely overshadowed by the gravitas that McCormack brings. And finally you can't go past a team like Brad Wright (creator), Matrtin Wood (director) and co. These are people that delivered 15 + plus years of great television with the Stargate franchise. It's clear they know what the hell they're doing.(It's also super fun to play "How Many Canadian Sci Fi TV Shows Has That Actor Been In".)Bottom line. Well worth you're time.
underscore1 I really like this show for its main plot. I was a huge fan of Quantum Leap and there are enough high level parallels. Season 1 was better than a 7. But Season 2 just had too much focus, yet not enough continuity, on the individual '21st" subplots for each character. They focus on a subplot, then it disappears for a while with any hang-ups in one episode mysteriously forgotten in the next. One minute McLaren is getting in trouble for forgetting his anniversary. The next minute they're back in love. One minute Trevor is off to private school, yet that never gets revisited. One minute Carly is working on custody of her son. Then she disappears for days at a time again and yet all is well.It seems the only subplot they really consistently focus on is Marcy.
sheilakinkead This series is just so lovely. The acting is amazing. The storylines are rich and satisfying. The writers and directors include every detail you would want to see. It's so thoughtfully scripted and portrayed that you buy every motivation and understand the need for every action. I loved Season 1 enough to keep watching, but Season 2 is making the show an all-time favorite for me. Thank you for making it, and don't fan-service, please!
