Ruth Dossett Bonnie Hunt always seems to get better with age. She survived job burnout in the mid-'80s to get into performing with Second City and, from there, it was on to films and television. Even after three short-lived (but critically acclaimed) sitcoms she got the perfect format...a daytime talk variety show. This was perfect for her and her "girl next door"/"surrogate daughter/sister/aunt" personality. I watched every time the show was on (11 am in Phoenix-the competition is local news, soaps, Today and Jerry Springer) and never got tired. No heavy drama (Ellen's dog saga), no interrogation of guests (e.g. Rosie O'Donnell vs. Tom Selleck), just good entertainment. I especially liked the weekly visits with her mom and the opening narration by her niece...very warm and family oriented. I see by the IMDb website and Google that the show has been cancelled...another tragic casualty in the wake of similar shows such as those hosted by Tony Danza, Megan Mullally, Pat Bullard, etc. One only hopes and prays that everything comes to a good end and everybody goes on to whatever they do next. For two years, this was my midday fix...Bonnie at 11 am...and now it's apparently going away. All the best, Bonnie...you and everybody else will land on your feet.
millieg-1 On our channels I can watch on ABC at 10am and city TV at 2pm. Bonnie's show is just getting better, or 'keeping it real'. She is not copying any other talk show that I know of, just being herself and including the band, Don and the rest of the cast. Being true to her roots (chicago) and raising money for the hospital is very time consuming but every $ counts. Whatever I do, I plan it so I can watch either time, sometimes watch it twice. That doesn't say much for our channels but am enjoying it immensely! Thunder Bay is still really cold, that is my excuse for staying in to watch, but keep it up. I don't know where your ratings fall but you all are tops with me! Thanks for the laughs and I enjoy your set, Frank Sinatra, what can I say? Kinda grew up with the rat pack. Sincerely, Millie Garbaz
Syl Bonnie Hunt's childhood dream has come true with her talk show of the same name. She is better known for playing the sister in Jerry Maguire and the mother in Cheaper by the Dozen and other films. In this show, she showcases her talents of allowing celebrities be themselves. She can be quirky sometimes but she is one of the best beloved American actresses even in her forties who can hold her own against Renee Zellweger and Steve Martin. Bonnie is fiercely loyal to her friends like Holly who was on Life with Bonnie. Their friendship is real and authentic without the pretenses of others. Bonnie tries not to inflict her political or personal views but she is happy and proud of her hometown Chicago and her relationship with her mother who makes occasional appearances on her show and her fifteen nieces and nephews. Bonnie is not without her personal problems as she is separated from her long-time husband after 20 years of marriage but she manages to always smile and be cheerful.
