GamerTab That was an excellent one.
Numerootno A story that's too fascinating to pass by...
Murphy Howard I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
Jonah Abbott There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
jon-6-425239 I never written a review before simply because I can't be arsed. But. I'm making an exception. I've not felt this way with a serialised TV drama since the 3rd and 4th seasons of Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad is almost mythical to me, now, and that is the benchmark I subconciously rate everything to but this show, in retrospect, may be topping it. There isn't a bad episode. There isn't even an average episode. No filler, just drama, twists and the all important story hooks that pulls it all along. Breaking Bad had average episodes and they were mainly in the first few seasons. It had mega episodes and in that sense Breaking Bad is still top dog but Startup has consistancy. 20 episodes of consistancy. Then there's the other important aspect and that's the characters. I love everyone of the main cast. Freeman's character, Ronald Dacey, Perlman - when he drops in, in season 2. The mad bearded druggy coder. All the Haitians. Not too interested in Ronald's family but that's essential to Ronald's development throughout the series.I'll say one more thing, and this is to me the greatest honour I can give, Ronald Dacey is the new Omar. Omar from the Wire. A multi-dimensional, lovable version of Omar from the Wire but just as badass. He kills it. In fact, with Dacey in mind, I can sum up the whole series in one world.Gripping.
paxflor I was randomly checking out what series were available on Amazon Prime when I noticed the title Startup. I did not expect much, and certainly not a documentary about how startups are born and evolve. The first episode seemed to open a perspective on different classes of criminals in Miami, so I figured it would be a series about competing gangs. But there was indeed a biz and tech twist to the story, with a struggling genius called Izzy, trying to market her product to banks and other investors. I went on to episode 2, interested to see how a cryptocurrency competing with Bitcoin might take off in such circumstances and from then on, the plot evolved in a way that had me hooked so much that I just went binge watching it for hours over a long weekend! The effort to market Gencoin lands Cuban born Izzy, Isabel Morales, in deeper trouble than she could have dreamed, but gains her two unlikely friends: Nick Talman, estranged son of a shady character who is tryinf to escape with 2 million dollars, some of it belonging to a Haitian thug, Ronald Dacey, but the money is also coveted by an FBI investigator, Phil Rask, and the cryptocurrency is also of interest to an apparently respectable firm, The story has several communities and gangs involved in the race to win the tech war, and the way it evolves keeps the interest going. As the series goes on through Season 1 and 2, the ties grow between the three people who had just started out as "business partners" because they needed to get money. Danger and setbacks keep getting in their way, including murder, slander and worse mayhem. But they keep up, doggedly, even after all hope seems lost. There are lots of surprises on the way, sometimes expected, sometimes less so. Series2 Episode 10 ends in a way which could signal the end of the story, despite a few unresolved issues for Nick, the young white ex-banker and Wes, the investor, for Ronald and for Izzy too, although we could envision what they would do after the End title is on screen. , Agent Rask seems to have successfully avoided trouble for himself, but is that for sure? I am happy to read that a third installment of the series has been approved in November and that I will be able to get back to watch it in the future. In fact it was both a gripping story with likeable characters, although the series is not for kids, because of violence, profanity and sexuality, but these parts are justified in the context, and do not take up excessive time within the story, so they did not deter me from enjoying the plot. The way the characters deal with loss of loved ones, of their life work, of their reputation and how they rebound, is also important to the story. All in all, I warmly recommend this series to a mature audience and definitely will watch Series when it appears on Amazon Prime or on television.
jonasmail-87932 If you like Billions, Ozark and Silicon Valley you will most likely love this one. For some reason this series is very little promoted and it seem like lots of people doesn't know about it (I stumbled on it). Well, I guess its because its not a Netflix or HBO production...Watch it!
munchness-05004 I love this show. It was the only reason I got Amazon primeThe only question i have is... will there be a season 3 !?I cant seem to find any information on it... after the ending of season 2 i am assuming the show is over but still in high hopes something might come up.
