ratm311 I remember seeing promos for this show before it appeared back in 1993. I was 8 at the time, and now at the age of 22 it feels weird to have seen this cult show start and end and to look back on it.The 90's all of a sudden seem so far away, what a great decade. Anyway I used to watch MonsterVision all the time, as I am a huge fan of monster flicks and horror films. It was like the 90's version of Chiller Theater. If MST3K can get DVD's why not Joe Bob's show, at least MonsterVision was more interesting and informative. A lot of Joe Bob's comments and info on the films were just hilarious. Most of the movies shown on the show were B or C grade but it showed a lot of A house films as well like the Hammer films from England which are Top notch as well as many with the stop motion majesty of Ray Harryhausen. Many were oddball flicks that you wouldn't see anywhere else like the the Japanese Sci-Fi movies besides of course Godzilla which is familiar to almost everyone and independent movies like Metal Storm and Motel Hell. With the new Decade of film preservation and more independent minded directors, I think MonsterVision would be a good show for IFC to pick up, since they already have a hit with the IFC grind house show. I'm sure this show will be picked up again for nostalgia reasons some day, I guess will have to wait and see. Until then "thats Great Television"!

mamamiasweetpeaches MONSTERVISION was a great cable show that had a guy named Joe Bob Briggs sittin around a trailer drinkin cheap beer and commenting on old horror movies(some of them good,some of them middle-of-the-road,some of them bad...but so bad they are good,y'know???) Although SOME of the movies were entertaining the real reason to watch was the wise-cracks joe Bob would make about the movies. Before the movie would start he would tell ya a little something about the flick,and then hold up a chart that told you pretty much how people in the flick would meet thier demise.(If you cared about the "element of surprise" you didnt watch this part,which is a shame cuz it was the funniest part). For instance,he held up a chart that would say 1 Decapitation, 2 knife wounds, 1 hammer in the eye and 1 kick in the groin. Then the movie would start...sometimes good,sometimes bad...then they would go to break,and before the movie would start again they would show Joe Bob drinkin his cheap beer and laughing about something that had been in the clip of movie they had just shown. If someone had a really dumb line, or if there was a big plot problem he would point it out. He was really very funny and had a good banter with the others on the show...as well as cast and crew. I remember once they showed RAISING CAIN,a movie I had already seen...so I taped it and fast fowarded through the movie parts and just watched the Joe Bob parts. This was a good show to tape. That way even if you didnt care for the movie you could watch Joe Bob crack wise. In my opinion Joe Bob needs a new show.(if I had the funding,I'D give him one).When that day comes I will gladly be his mail girl.

This show has become a tradition with me and my brother.Every saturday i watch and i get upset if i fall asleep in the middle of it.Most of the movies are good or are classics,but every once in a while they show a cheese flick or two.On a scale of * being horrid and ***** being great id give it a ****************

Weirdo-x I've been watching this show for three years now, and I simply love it because of how funny Joe Bob Briggs is. In fact, he's my idol now.Every Saturday night I tune into TNT to watch the cheesy flicks he hosts, and I like only SOME of the ones he plays. My favorite segments in his show are when he reads some fain mail on the air with Rusty the Mailgirl (because I send some in) and when he does the Drive-In Totals for a film he shows. I hope that "Monstervision" remains to be the longest running television series, as long as everyone's favorite funny man stays as host. It wouldn't be the same without him. You can also catch Mr. Briggs make cameo appearances in films such like "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2", "Casino", "The Great Outdoors", and "Face/Off".Right next to Howard Stern, Joe Bob Briggs may top over the classy radio DJ as the "King of all Media".
