I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

Not every comedy show is going to be liked by everybody, but Married overall is a smart comedy with great timing. Nat Faxon and Judy Greer play a married couple with three kids. They are pretty much the average family, trying to make ends meet while dealing with life issues in a comical sort of way. Faxon and Greer have great timing and they play great off each other. Some episodes are funnier than others and a little too silly, but overall, I always get at least one or more decent laughs in each episode, and I hardly ever laugh watching most comedies. The show covers all aspects of marriage, including parenting and friends. The show has a dark, twisted sort of humor, but it also conveys the right message as well. After the first episode, it grows on you. I'm very happy they made a second season. The show to me is a mix of National Lampoons(earlier years) and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Besides this show, the only other comedy worth watching these days is Silicon Valley.

FX comedies have always been very hit or miss for me. Shows like "The League", "Always Sunny in Philadelphia", and "Louie" are all quirky in their own way and make for some great television. "Married" however leans more towards the mediocre list with shows like "Saint George" and "Anger Management". Nat Faxon and Judy Greer are the likable couple that the show revolves around, along with some oddball friend characters that only seem to exist to help fill up the 30 minute program. The weekly plot lines produce a few laughs you wouldn't see on network TV since FX can get away with some risky material, but overall each episode feels kind of empty and sporadic. Even the music score makes the show feel slow and depressing. I would be surprised if their was a 2nd season since there's nothing to keep most viewers interested in this show unfortunately.

The cast in this show helps elevate it above other sitcoms (but not You're the Worst). The writing itself could be acted in many ways, changing the tone of a story entirely. The dryness the two main characters use make the show great. The cynicism is very evident, and it makes the whole show very funny. Point is, it's really good. Just watch it. Best episode: "The Playdate" This episode just proved that the delivery REALLY helps, everything is done in a fully dry, cynical, and unemotional manner that emphasizes the ridiculousness of it all, or it is very emotional, proving that these characters are real people and can convey emotion.

It's not very good. There is no clear narrative to the story on which the comedy very precariously hangs. I don't want to say it's boring, but it is. Nothing stands out here, it's the visual equivalent of elevator muzak.I feel terrible for saying these things as I'm sure people (well I hope) have worked hard on this show, but it's just not very good. It feels a bit jaded, like I've seen it all before but can't remember where?Humor/entertainment is subjective as are many things in life, but even when something may not be to your personal tastes, surely it should have some effect on you? That's the problem with Married, it simply doesn't do anything! It's bland, Married is bland (bit of irony there).
