Reviews

Pluskylang Great Film overall
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Griff Lees Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
JohnLeeT An uninspired and creatively disastrous sketch comedy program that should have been canceled following its first horrendous season. Obviously an attempt to counter the superb Saturday Night Live, MADtv lacked on-screen talent of any consequence and writing that was hardly worthy of broadcast, even on this amateur level show. With uniformly unfunny cast members and humor that was rarely comprehensible in addition to being unlaughable, the title seemingly had nothing to do with the brilliant MAD Magazine. This has to rank as one of the worst television programs in the history of the medium and it is almost impossible to recall anyone who went on from this debacle to do anything of consequence. Oblivion was the fate of nearly all participants and the writers most likely took up another line of work after MADtv limped to an unnoticed, decade overdue cancellation. All involved should be embarrassed by their participation and if they somehow remain active in the industry, must leave this abominable trash off their resumes and live in constant fear of being discovered as once being responsible for such horror. MAD Magazine did serious damage to its prestige by associating itself with something like this and it will take many years for the wounds inflicted upon the astonishing literary satire that was MAD, the beloved and much acclaimed magazine, to at last heal. Unfortunately, that nightmare association, so unneeded, so ugly, and so mercenary, may never be forgiven until several generations have passed and such painful memories fade into the mists of time. Two stars are granted here in honor of the excellent skilled technicians who labored untiringly and offered a magnificent effort to make this so-called "show" watchable in spite of the abysmal final product that so relentlessly violated our television screens.
b_havag Mad-TV is a strange show. It ranges from some of the best comedic pieces you'll ever see, to the stuff that simply sucks. Anyway, I think most of the sketches is on the better half on the scale. Therefore, I recommend it to be viewed on YouTube. There you can seek out the best of them, sketches that are absolutely hilarious, and easy 10/10. Keywords are "Stuart", "Bush Mad TV", "Nicole Parker", "VerbAlert" (Ron Pederson), "Man Up", "Kenny Rogers Jackass, Apprentice and Fear Factor", "Deal or no deal parody", "Sex and the City", "Clay Aiken", "Sprint Ringtones", "Steven Segal", "Arnold Schwarzenegger" and so much more. Many of these will have to be written with "Mad TV" as extra to find what you're looking for.The best sketches are out there, there are many of them, and they are hilarious. Unfortunately, Mad TV has a significant number of bad comedy acts as well, and therefore I must give an 8/10 overall.
Claudia McCarey I have to say,Mad TV is so bloody hilarious, especially with physical comedy.Yes,it was offensive(and still is),but at least it's not the cheesy Fast Forward Show or the so-called comedian Will Ferrall(no offense to the fans of him,but this is what I really think of him)and Mike Myers does pathetic kids movies now like Shrek, though the only movies I ever liked were Austin Powers(they were all comically classic). The greatest things about this show was how over-the-top it was in oh-so-funny ways. The mockery and satirical parodies from music, movies,TV shows, video games,toys,real-life problems, bathroom humour,to practically everything, and I MEAN EVERYTHING.When watching the show,it was like reading Mad magazine put on television virtually,it was fun. There isn't anything else to talk about this show because of how genius everything is in this show. One more thing,I thank the show so much for doing a take off of the High school musical film in a humorous version. That film was campy.
S.R. Dipaling Let me first off say that I have been, still am and will probably always be a follower of "Saturday Night Live",but after watching a large gob of reruns of this FOX TV answer to the venerable NBC weekend sketch/variety show,I can say that I've become very impressed with this sketch show from producer Quincy Jones.Premiering in October of 1995,this show is the lone survivor among a feeding frenzy of competition shows that popped up that year attempting to dethrone what was perceived(accurately so for the most part)a vulnerable SNL. While MAD hasn't even come close to unseating its more famous competitor,it's carved a very nice niche on Saturdays, due in no small part to the very yeoman-like work of some fine comedic talent. A partial list of those actors:Michael McDonald,Nicole Sullivan,Alex Borstein,Will Sasso,Aries Spears,Debra Wilson,Frank Caliendo,Mo Collins,Bobby Lee,Paul Vogt and Stefanie Weir. They've all contributed strong original characters as well as impressions of celebs. In fact,to me,I'd say that MAD's rep cast has better, less annoying and more spot-on original characters of late than does Lorne Michael's show of late. Some faves: Miss Swan,Stuart,Lorraine Swanson,Michael and Jasmine(the pop duo with EXACTLY one song in them that goes "You are the love of my life..."),Trina and Bonifa Latifa Halifa Jackson.HAven't caught MAD TV yet(and if you watch enough shows, you'll notice that earlier eps seem to be more attached to the eponymous magazine's rep and characters, shows from about 1998 on are far more independent of the inspirational comic standby from Warner Brothers),just tune in to Comedy Central four or five different times of the weekdays, because they're running those shows like they're going out of style. A very good alternative for those who are tired(to whatever degree) of that other late night sketch show.
