Synopsis

An American television series originally produced between 1982 and 1987. The show is based on the 1980 motion picture of the same name. With a mixture of drama and music, it followed the lives of the students and faculty at the New York City High School for the Performing Arts. Although fictional, it was based heavily on the actual Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York. Most interior scenes were filmed in Hollywood, California, and in all seasons but the third, several exterior scenes were shot on location in New York City. The popularity of the series, particularly in the UK, led to several hit records and live concert tours by the cast. Despite its success, very few of the actors maintained high-profile careers after the series was cancelled. A number of the cast members were seen again briefly in Bring Back...Fame, a reunion special made for British television in 2008.

Reviews

Colibel Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Donald Seymour This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
spice_cats OK, fame is such a good show, its the best actually, I love all the characters, but of course my favorite is.... BRUNO! How can u not like bruno? He is the best character and you have to love his hair! Another good character is Leroy, the stubborn dancer. Leroy is a great character because that man can DANCE like no one else. The rest of the characters i like too, but my favorites are Bruno and Leroy. Who can for get the music in FAME, there was tonnes of good songs that i personally like, such as: Starmaker, Sho sho Shorfsky, High Fidelity, Desdamona, The show must go on, Murphy's Blues and Friday night.FAME 10/10
kenonutt223 When I was a kind I started watching Fame with my mother. She used to watch that show all the time. She loved it. I bought the first season at Wal Mart for $20. It was cheap. I watched all 16 episodes in the season, and 1 thing I like about the show was at the end of the introduction, 2 women on the dance floor studio jumped and splitted their legs WIDE OPEN. That's what reminds me of having to watch that show. Even I was having to get up for school the morning after, YEARS ago. I felt pretty good about watching that show. And another part of the introduction was the quote that says "You got big dreams. You want Fame, well Fame costs. And right here is where you start paying with sweat. The title theme was great. I didn't like the end credits much, but the introduction was great, and the whole show too.
geenah00 I believe that Fame the series was a great show for it's time. IT WAS the 80's. There is no denying that. Of course the movie was better...when is that not expected. We all know that in real life no one breaks into song and dance. I think what the series did, was take the movie to a level that the "true" movie fans wanted to see where it could go. In the later seasons it did get boring, repetitive and almost down right embarrassing. This is one of the tv series I wish were still on in syndication...I would watch. Fame the TV series was NOT lame!!!!!
pooh-24 The 1980 film about the students and faculty of the New York City High School for The Performing Arts was quite good very good in fact. But its' TV namesake was anything but.The movie was fresh, fast paced, and interesting while the TV show had all the qualities you find in a situation comedy-drama it was stale and predictable.Hey why did the show have so many goofy skits and musical numbers on it?It sort of reminded you of an old Elvis Presley movie where Elvis would break into a musical number during a scene it never made sense, the kids too would break into some non-sensical music and dance number at any time. The emphasis on education, something the filmmakers did not forget, was lost on and forgotten by the makers of the TV show. The stars of "Fame" the TV show were also not up to par with the actors in the film.Carlo Impernato was the greatest no-talent to ever disgrace national TV with his presence. He couldn't really sing, dance,or act but he got plenty of lines on the show.Billy Hufsey was a decent dancer but he was bit insufferable considering all the airtime he got.He wasn't much of an actor either. The Fame TV show did some live concerts around the country when it was popular(one was shown by NBC)and it stayed around for a few years but the charm and exuberance of the movie of the same name was not apparent when watching it.It was a show that was all mass and no appeal.
