lisa_retzer It was a sat.am. and I stumbled across this show on TV. Why not, who doesn't love food? Now this is how a cooking show should be. I must admit I didn't get all the jokes but the ones which were a lot,had me rolling on the floor. A mix of outlandish ingredients that we all love, mashed together to make masterpieces. I have no idea if my abilities would make them as good but I'm willing to try. 4 guy and a girl hanging out in a kitchen creating plates for themselves, giving reviews. They also go to locations that coincide with some of the foods that they are making. Lets not forget the fact that they promote the Feed America program, what more can u want? I came in on their 11th episode on their first season so I'm praying they keep on going. Apparently they had/have a Utube show. Never been on Utube so....
mw8771 My cholesterol rapidly increased just watching this television show, as someone who has no clue they were on you tube I find them hilarious and entertaining while they serve their humongous servings to their customers. My favorite episode was the in the 1st series where harley had to do a Jewish meal and his family came over, I was literally laughing throughout the whole episode. If only I was younger and would join these guys and eat with them without getting a heart attack. Ha, anyways I wish good luck to this television series. Once again this series is literally hilarious, i always laugh in every single one of their episodes!!!
Nicholas Whitfield It is very simple. If you enjoy their 'Epic Meal Time' Youtube videos. You will definitely enjoy this. However, even if you don't or haven't heard or seen those videos. You may very well still enjoy this. I, for one, happen to be fond of EMT, so this was that and more. I was surprised at how well the jokes were delivered and thoroughly likable everyone was. Not to say they aren't in their EMT vids, but often it is just a persona/character w/ little genuine interaction. 'Epic Meal Empire' really shows off their comedic chops. It felt like 'Jackass' or 'Viva La Bam'. Just a bunch of friends acting crazy, having a great time and being extremely funny. Plus, my wife and I eat quite healthy, but their concoctions, while abominations, look amazingly good and take some serious skill to make. 9/10
Deucalion1990 The core members of YouTube's wildly popular Epic Mealtime finally make the leap to TV, sporting a shiny new headquarters and tricked out hambulance. Much of what went into the original YouTube series remains intact, while cutaway dialogues and episodic adventures make up the rest of the show.Just like the web show, "Epic Meal Empire" is highly entertaining, due in large part to the naturally funny and charismatic Harley Morenstein. Everyone looks like they're genuinely having fun and, needless to say, the food looks awesome. That being said, there is a deeply uncomfortable underside to this show: the unapologetic celebration of gluttony. As funny as Harley & Co.'s antics can be at times, the main draw has really been the shock value of seeing what monstrosity of fat and sugar gets made and how much of it can be eaten in one sitting. According to the World Health Organisation, some ~30% of the adult population in the United States are obese, with childhood obesity on the forefront of global health crises in the 21st Century. Many leading health centres around the globe routinely describe obesity as an epidemic, a word traditionally reserved for large scale pathological disasters, like bird flu.Of course, it's reality TV. "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo", "Man vs. Food", "Big Brother", they all have one theme central to their business model: exploitation. These shows are highly lucrative because they peddle a product more closely related in both consumption and enjoyment to junk food than to entertainment. It's up to you, the viewer, to depart from this trend. tl;dr = Fine as a guilty pleasure, but go watch Gordon Ramsey's "MasterChef", at least you'll learn something.
