ChanFamous I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
dwangcritter Promised a lot and failed to deliver. First problem - too many characters. Second problem - too many sideline stories.Third problem. Clunky, slow paced script, that seemed to miss a meaningful edit. An adventure story, that had way too much Days of our lives, soap quality about it.Big problem- nothing resolved at the end, which is galling, especially as season 2 was canned. (not exactly a big surprise). Another thing that spoiled the series is the casting was not very good. The good guy lawyer looks far too young to have all the experience he was supposed to have. The female star looks too old to be in this sort of military action. The young activist was so bad, that I was fast forwarding his contributions after a while. The computer geek hacker stood out, as the best cast member. The transvestite in an Arab country seemed to be more of a soapbox statement by the writer, than anything else.It was just not believable. The romantic hookups all lacked chemistry. In the story, the writer seemed addicted to plot twists. There were so many that it became predictable and boring. You could have canned over half the scenes and missed nothing. Slow paced story, that promised a lot at the start, but went downhill very quickly. Don't wait for a re-run. It won't happen.
xhidden99 First of all it's chick TV. Make no mistake this is a chick show. The only characters with above room temperature IQ are the women. Men are either idiots or cartoon evil. Even 12 year girls have more on the ball than army officers, US attorneys, hackers, hit men, anarchists and the like. Fair enough. But then we add in the global super conspiracy redolent of "The Following" and the implausible coincidences involving the main character and bizarre way one character is witness to murder and assaults in public in broad daylight in busy city streets that no one else pays attention to let alone call the cops and it goes down pretty fast. They really could have easily done this in 4 eps. By stretching it out slow burn style it's just dull, incomprehensible and cliché.
Paul Creeden As an American with a realistic view of the dulling of my culture by corporate media (Comcast's NBC-Universal in this case), I was still stunned by the level of absolute stupidity in this production. The writing is abysmal. Forced coincidence. Characters who are outright stupid. A nauseating sound track. Child characters who are much smarter than any adult character. The 'smart' lawyer who is shocked when his key witness gets killed by dark forces. The key whistle-blower who walks to a meeting with a government prosecutor in full uniform in the middle of the day and doesn't even use a crosswalk to cross a Manhattan street. The same lawyer shows off his extra-covert evidence to a suspect colleague and is then shocked when betrayed. The son of a renowned journalist who never asks an a undercover assassin for her press credentials and tells her every secret. The escaped soldier who cannot even pretend to be a deaf mute and makes her first phone call in safety to the commander who obviously set her up. Was this script submitted as a high school homework assignment? Even the violence is done badly. A wall of a small room explodes and manages to kill one person who happens to be the bad guy. The paramilitary bad guys appear instantly and are met with no resistance or suspicion by trained military personnel. The escaped soldier is miraculously saved over and over again with everyone around her dropping like flies. This series is a prime example of how conglomerates destroy truth in art and in media. The twisted melding of propaganda and reality perverted for mob entertainment produces crap like this every time.
jerseyjoea You can knit pick any show about details but this is entertainment and very good at that. It is a stretch to connect the dots to reality but you don't have to. Enjoy it for what it is, a quality show. All shows are somewhat flawed, Homeland, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Etc. you can find faults if you look hard enough. I think the acting is very good as well as the storyline. Sit back, relax and enjoy.I think when you make your point you shouldn't have to streach it out to 10 lines, that's absurd.
