It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

There are better movies of two hours length. I loved the actress'performance.

Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

Sometimes it just takes a huge event, a "happening" in the words of Gorilla Monsoon, to jump- start a product. The WWF's big tournament to crown a champion in the wake of a vacated belt was just that for the Wrestlemania brand. For the past three years, Wrestlemania had relied a bit too much on celebrities and gimmicks to get by. It was still a unique event, but until Steamboat/Savage & Hogan/Andre in Wrestlemania III the matches really didn't seem to mean all that much or create enough drama. That all changes in Wrestlemania IV because of the tournament, where every single match takes on added significance.Basically, this is the event where the WWF finally lets the matches "do all the talking", so to speak. There is very little celebrity involvement (a recurring bit regarding Vanna White and Bob Uecker is pretty funny) in lieu of solid matches. Besides the Jake Roberts vs. Rick Rude contest, I can't really say that any of the matches in this event are boring (again, because of the presence of the tournament format). The wrestling speaks for itself, as do the personalities behind it.Wrestlemania IV is still announced by the Monsoon/Ventura team...the best in the business, IMHO.So, this is the first Wrestlemania that the WWF really gets right and produces a very polished product. It just took the large-scale tournament format to kickstart the process.

I quite enjoyed Wrestlemania IV. It was a change from all the singles matches that bothered us all at WM I, II and III. Once again Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse 'the body' Ventura were fantastic on the commentary booth. This WM featured too many matches to write about, but they were all watchable. Ted DiBiase's matches were all outstanding (yes even the one with Jim Duggan) and Ricky Steamboat vs Greg Valentine was fantastic. The main event was 'Macho Man' Randy Savage vs 'Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase and it was good. Things picked up when Hulk Hogan came to the aid of Savage resulting in Savage picking up the WWE Undisputed Championship.Overall Grade - B

This show was on way too long. 4 HOURS! They only get 3 these days. And the whole show was lackluster. Although Savage winning the belt was special, the matches weren't. Andre vs. Hogan II was terrible. The match of the night went to Savage vs. Valentine and it was only ***! Yes! Just 3 stars! Not recommended.

Whilst I don't think WrestleMania IV was in the same league as the previous three events it was still a brilliant card. The main event of the card was a tournament for the WWF Title. Back in 1988 tournaments like this were actually unpredictable and anybody could win them. All the top good guys and bad guys fought in the tournament for a chance to win that prized WWF Title. The undercard was pretty good too. The powerful Ultimate Warrior brutalized Hercules in a good match. The devastating Demolition made their WrestleMania debut battling traditional good guys Strike Force. There was an entertaining and comedic match between Brutus Beefcake and The Honky Tonk Man. And for the first time since WrestleMania II we were treated to one of those Battle Royals which featured an entertaining ending.Check this video out if you can.
