Ceticultsot Beautiful, moving film.
RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Brenda The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
edwardwesterberg I was expecting something good but this where just booring me. So slow story. I always thinked that the movies wasnt good but this must be the worst ive seen. Ill give it plus for the effects but beyond that its just booring.
enectere I did try to keep an open mind, knowing that this was a fan-made film. Unfortunately, I was unable get pass the first 15 minutes.Firstly, the story ideas in this film strayed too far from Tom Riddle's original backstory in the books to my liking. Particularly the whole Soviet Wizards idea and the founders' descendants gathering in the Room of Requirement. It was emphasised a lot in the books that the only thing close to friends that Riddle had were his followers, later known as Death Eaters. So it was difficult believing that Riddle continuously met up with these other students during his time at Hogwarts. Also, changing Hepzibah's death into something more dramatic ended up being disappointing - being a huge fan of the books, it just didn't seem like a Riddle thing to do (although, for this version of Tom Riddle, I guess it was acceptable).Secondly, the acting and the script is very poor. From the scenes I watched, the dialogue seemed forced, which isn't a good sign. The actors just didn't seem to "live" or "become" their characters. But, of course, I understand that they're amateurs and not professionals. Often bad acting can stem from a bad script, which I believe is the case for this movie. Some of the dialogue was cringe-worthy, especially that first conversation with Riddle and McLaggen. Speaking of which, I was gobsmacked when McLaggen said she was a 2nd year student - she looked old enough to be 5th year student. If it were possible, they should have cast someone younger because her saying "I'm only a second year" sounded ridiculous. Going back to the script, apparently the better scenes, which I have yet to see, were the ones based off J.K. Rowling's writing in Half Blood Prince. As many have stated, special effects are commendable for a low-budget movie. Whilst it sometimes resembled some sort of video game, it was mostly acceptable. There was a review on Wikipedia about the special effects being even better than the ones in official Potter films - unfortunately, I cannot agree.I would have liked to see a bit more with costume/make-up/hairstyling. Particularly the look of McLaggen could have been better - she's supposed to be living in the 1940s-1970s. But instead, especially as a Hogwarts student, she looks too modern. Because she's a main character, it did become a bit distracting. Music was not bad but also not memorable or fantastic. For the sake of this review, I did glimpse a few of the later scenes of the movie but I couldn't watch all of it. However, after seeing this, I was compelled to go back to Chamber of Secrets and Half Blood Prince to re-watch Christian Coulson's, Frank Dilane's and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin's portrayals of Tom Riddle to forget this fan-made film.
sonjalukic Inaccurate doesn't begin to explain the atrocity that this movie represents. I don't know who made it, but it was definitely not made by someone who have actually read the books, let alone can that person be called a fan. This has nothing to do with Harry Potter universe. The beginning with the girl zooming back and forth like Flash and playing wizard Counter Strike made watching it worse than being under a Cruciatus Curse. I couldn't even bear to watch until the end. Voldemort never had friends, not to mention love interest. The whole point of Harry's power over him is kind of the fact that Voldemort underestimated the power of love and never cared about anybody but himself. Moreover no one, or better said rarely people conected Voldemort with Tom Riddle, the modest ambitious student that he was considered back in school days. The only person that really did conect the dots back then was Dumbledore. Other fact is that he is this highly intelligent manipulative guy that knows how to play the right strings, and was adored by all professors except Dumbledore, not an angry teenager that snaps at people and reveals them his big plans for the future. No one except his chosen circle of what are after going to be Death Eaters had known that he is obsessed with pure blood. Also, why on earth would Russians have his diary? I didn't really expect this to be on point with all the details but this is so off tracks that not even a broom compass could fix it.
eldermarasca If you decide to watch the movie, and I recommend you to do so, do it as if you were about to watch a whole new thing. It is a branch of the original series, and it must NOT be taken too seriously regarding inconsistencies with the books. Pretty much all of the reviews I've read thus far are more than likely coming from those mad HP fans that won't accept anything slightly different from what they already know. Anyway, it's a must-watch, if you do it with an open mind and heart.in the begining, you'll feel a little confused, but that feeling will soon vanish as you keep watching.and the plot at the end. DUDE, that was awesome.
