VeteranLight I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
LouHomey From my favorite movies..
Crwthod A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
Zandra The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
merelyaninnuendo The SwitchIt takes way too much time to get to the point and works more than enough on its characters but then this is no mere ordinary rom-com; its worth a try.
CassC0821 I don't know why this movie doesn't have better reviews. I really don't understand what critics want because sometimes they can be totally wrong about a movie, and this is one of them. I loved this movie, not an Oscar winner but sometimes it's nice to watch a funny, silly, light-hearted fluff movie every once in a while. Jason Bateman is really funny and endearing. Jeff Goldblum is hysterical as always, steals every scene he's in. the chemistry between Bateman and Aniston was great, also between Bateman and the child actor. Juliette Lewis was a nice addition as well. I would definitely watch this again. I had a good bunch of laughs through the whole film.
Catharina_Sweden The ending was very predictable here, and it is in no way an original story. All the characters are stereotypes: the woman's good male friend the archetypal nerd, the sperm donor the archetypal gorgeous sporty hero, the mother's friends who are supporting her in the getting-a-kid-by-herself-process are of course bohemian, etc..But I liked it a little, anyway. The actors are all good in their parts. It addresses general human issues, and not least the method of having children by sperm donor, that is getting only more and more common among especially high-educated middle-aged women. It is important to remember, that however much the woman wishes for a child, the child's existence might be both lonely and isolated, with no father (because what is happening in this movie will not happen in reality) and no siblings. And he or she might also - as Sebastian in the movie - be called a "scientific experiment" in school. Where most kids of course live in normal families with their real mother, their real father, and at least one full sibling.Despite of the feel-good-tone to this movie, I see it as a warning!
MtnShelby I don't like romantic comedies. I don't particularly care for Jennifer Aniston's films. I don't even like cute kids. And yet I thoroughly enjoyed this film about a single woman's quest for motherhood. Jason Bateman is adorable and genuine, Jennifer is cute and spirited without being cloying, Patrick Wilson is well-cast as the cardboard sperm donor, Juliette Lewis is lots of fun, and that little boy . . . I could have smothered that cupcake in icing and just eaten him up. As others have commented, one of the nice things about the film is the interaction between Bateman and the little boy--they genuinely seemed to get along as if they really were father and son. Maybe I just needed a break from heavier films, but I thought The Switch was delightful. And yes I cried at the end--eeek.
