InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
iwb201096 This movie was probably one of the worst movies I've ever watched. I may be a little biased though, but it was stuffed full of, well, practically nothing danish. First of all, it wasn't even filmed in Denmark, apart from Frederiksborg slot, which was only at the beginning of the movie, and is honestly completely irrelevant, since it's a museum and hasn't been lived in for a very long time. The names are stupid too, Kirsten is a rather old fashioned name, and I don't imagine anyone of her age would be named that, unless they had very old fashioned parents. We have a long tradition of naming our male royals Christian or Frederik, unless they are very unlikely to become heirs, but again, even if he wasn't the crown prince, which he is, Edvard is a very very old fashioned name, even older than Kirsten, and no parent who wishes any good for their child would name them that. The last king we had who wasn't named either Christian or Frederik was king Hans, who died in 1513. The whole plot revolves around a nonexistent law. Being married to a non-royal has been allowed for a long time, even though it only became normal about halfway through the 1900's. The part about having to speak in danish is true, if you want to be a danish princess/prince, you are required to learn danish, but you would receive many hours of classes, and no one would expect you to be perfect. So it's really a quite ridiculous movie, and the rest of them aren't much better.
smoothhoney1265 This movie at first was a clear but now is a difficult case for me. Like probably all people who see this film for the first time, I saw "The Prince and Me" first and this second film is way worse than the first film. The major problem, of course, is that they exchanged almost all of the main cast. This makes it difficult to identify with the story and the characters. Also, it is very obviously that Luke Mably really didn't want to be in this one (and I can understand why he didn't).The plot is thin, Paige is annoying, Edvard looks repulsed most of the time, and all the other characters are just ridiculous. That was a while ago. In the meantime I have seen the film about three times. On my free will. What did change my mind? Simple: It was one actor. Jonathan Firth. In my opinion, he is the most elegant, sweet and sensitive character in this film. A real joy to watch. And basically the reason you like watching the whole film in the end.Because it seems with brilliant actors that, their talent, and the heart they put into the role seems to rub off on the characters and the plot. In his calm and careful presence, Paige suddenly becomes a soft and likable personality, Edvard becomes sarcastic instead of depressed and the bitch of the film seems even bitchier. So, in the end I can say: "The Prince and Me 2" is really a bad film. BUT Jonathan Firth's performance is worth every minute and you have missed something if you haven't seen him in it.
ysic2 This sequel was dismal to say the least. The new Paige definitely can't act and I can't believe she is now in a Prince & Me 3 and 4. Huh? With such poor ratings in this one, why? It is the same old story, nothing new brought to the screen. One big fairytale. How does a normal girl fit into a world full of royals and the responsibilities that go along with it. She will make some big mistakes, yet in the end, the Prince will see all past that and say that he loves her, and live happily ever after. Oh yeah, in the beginning, they will be all fairytale and lovey dovey and then of course, not to bore us out of our wits with boredom of their lovey dovey, everything is grand kind of thing, there will be somebody who wants the crown and tries to spoil it for the happy couple only weeks before the wedding. Big shocker there! This time it is a girl in the name of Kirsten. She acts all sweet to Paige and Edvard but secretly trying to spoil things for Paige so she has some major stuffups. But Kirsten didn't need to try as Paige could make stuffups without help. Yes, the same thing happened in Princess Diaries, but at least you got to warm to Princess Mia. In this one, it seems to be all about revenge, that in this movie by the end, you don't care if Paige marries Edvard or not. He could've married Kirsten and I still would be happy. In the end of course, Kirsten is humiliated, ( a lot of copying from other movies) and Edvard and Paige are married. Okay, some rehashing of old stories can sometimes be good, but that is where the actors really need to shine and make you fall in love with them like I did in The Princess Diaries. This story however, is not much different to the Princess Diaries, and "What a girl wants" movies put together. In Prince & Me 2, I couldn't warm to Kam?? Maybe it was the whole cast's poor acting abilities, except for Kirsten. (She would be my reason for giving this movie a 2 instead of 1) She was the best person of the movie, she at least had a bit of personality. Maybe not the best, but at least she had something. Definitely a B grade movie.
Claire While I truly enjoyed the first movie, this one stinks, I mean really stinks. The only returning character is the guy playing King Edvard - everybody else ran a mile when they saw the scripts for this, what a joke and a bad one at that. Where is the continuation of the story? why is the father alive and well when he was dying in the first movie which is why the prince couldn't have a normal life and had to come home to save the monarchy. It really is abysmal when you get morons making a sequel (and heaven forbid a third instalment, this time the actor playing Edvard has gone and is played by someone else again) which they proceed to ruin completely. Did they not see the 1st movie, were they unaware it is a sequel and understand what a sequel is - a continuation????? No, they did not. How these fools ever get the money to make rubbish like this is beyond me. It tarnishes the memory of how good the 1st movie was, what a shame the fools who made this couldn't even be bothered to do it right.
